All right, I've given this two weeks, and there does not appear to be any objection. Shall it be re-added?
Am I the only troper distressed that all the quotes for The New Tens are downers? Perhaps somebody can find something pithy that promotes optimism...
Hide / Show RepliesWell, the tone of the New Tens has been a downer, as the main page indicates.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanPoint taken, but perhaps we tropers need to start working on promoting the upside of things.
Well, if you have other quotes to add, sure. Make sure they are somewhat good before, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHow about this snippet from Conan O'Brien's final Tonight Show appearance? (Jan. 22, 2010)
That's more suited for Silly Rabbit, Cynicism Is for Losers!, and it's already there anyway. I know because I put it there myself.
Duly noted — but it is from The New Tens and would make a nice counterpoint to the doom and gloom, no?
Well, I rather liked the "living in hard times, not end times" quote from Jon Stewart, but it's been removed and even replaced with a quote complaining about the Rally to Restore Sanity...
How about this for a positive quote, which can go under Fiction: the lyrics about how "Love brings out the best" from Frozen? After all, it's one of the biggest hits of the New Tens, and serves as a reminder that there are ways to turn around tough times.
Edited by 207.179.244.36Hey moderators — so it is okay for me to add the "Fixer Upper" lyrics to the page? I've seen no objections, and right now we need to be reminded that love brings out the best....
Sure. Quote pages are free to add stuff to.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
This quote:
Voters are mad at Washington. But I don't think it can match the sheer contempt Washington has for them. What's the message? Everytime you turn on the television, it's not just that Trump is bad, it's that his voters are worse. They're disgusting. You have a huge population in the center of the country whose life expectancy is dropping. And no one says anything about it. If the life expectancy of Syrian refugees was going down, we'd have a prime time address from the President.
has been removed twice by a person, first with no explanation, second with what could best be described as a temper tantrum. Is there a problem from anyone else?
