Removed:

  • The Critic has the episode where Jay's sister Margo refuses to attend a debutante ball, because she grew frustrated and eventually chastised them that they're having a charity as a contest on who can spend money the most rather than altruistic motives.

Is it Discussed Trope for Wealthy Philanthropist? I feel some relevant info is missing in this example's context.

I say it counts. Margo's point is that these people are missing the point about charity. They are acting as this trope by giving a lot to a charity but they have a different motive than this trope entails.
