I removed this example from literature folder. I don't think it's accurate.

Horatio Hornblower: Retribution: Buckland starts drinking when he realizes he simply isn't made for captaincy and turns full-on drunkard after he's humiliated in court.

As far as I know, there was not a trial in the books. The book "Retribution" was based on is called Lieutenant Hornblower. However, I haven't read the books, so if I'm mistaken, feel free to put it back.

I'm also sure there must several examples of this trope in the book series.
