"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhy does the entry describe it as a trope, when "This entry is trivia, which is cool and all, but not a trope. On a work, it goes on the Trivia tab."?
Seems like this one cries out for a mention of the Enhance Button trope. Dunno if CSI invented it but they surely are responsible for using it inordinately, and surely it relies on the general population accepting that low res security cams contain infinite amounts of information if you just push that Enhance Button.
Question. Is this the trope to discuss people who assume things about science based off TV shows (cultures, subcultures, psychology, etc) rather than just the legal stuff? Or is that something else?
I have removed a paragraph claiming no conclusive evidence for the CSI effect in light of an article in The Economist which would seem to contradict this.
"Evan Durnal of the University of Central Missouri’s Criminal Justice Department has collected evidence from a number of studies to show that exposure to television drama series that focus on forensic science has altered the American legal system in complex and far-reaching ways. His conclusions have just been published in Forensic Science International."
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play Hide / Show RepliesYou know, if you posted a link to that article on this page it would enrich everyone who read it.
See you in the discussion pages. To be honest, I thought it was refering to those idiotic one-lines/sunglass putting-on thing.
