The opening quotation strikes me as cynical and dismissive in tone (even accusing Tolkien, a trope codifier of immorality — not the standard tvtropes tone as I understand it). That doesn't seem to me to fit with the main tone of the wiki — better for "Darth Wiki."
Could we delete it or replace it?
Edited by tetramorphPersonally, I think "the Elder Scrolls" should be moved to "almost compliant". On the surface, it might appear to be compliant, but once you delve in the lore and the background material it becomes highly nonstandard.
Should Avatar: tlA really be on here? I'd remove it myself but someone would just add it back.

Do what the clock does, keep going.I hear this got renamed from ISO Standard Fantasy Setting because not everyone knew what "ISO" meant — and yet, this site is full of This-dere and That-dere and other Japanese loan words that make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER to people who don't watch anime. Seriously, every time — EVERY TIME — I run into one of those terms, I have to click the link to remind me Which-dere the page is talking about. Give me a BREAK.

Hide / Show RepliesI agree wholeheartedly. Heck, I watch (or have watched) quite a bit of Japanimation, but those gratuitous japanese names are things I've only heard of on this site. - Ronin Catholic.
I must be cruel, but to be kind That bad may begin, and worse be left behindI think all of the anime based names should be changed if there's a more appropriate movie/tv show/book. There is a huge assumption on this site that anime is as popular as other forms of media and I don't think that bares out in reality.
Should The Chronicles Of Narnia be listed under semi-compliant or standard section? Or not at all?
- martia Hide / Show RepliesNarnia's interesting, because it's a Fantasy Kitchen Sink that largely predates the trope. I'd call it semi-compliant.
The entry for Standard Sci-Fi Setting:
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StandardSciFiSetting
Seems richer, fuller and less cynical than this entry on medieval fantasy.
Could we work to fill out this article on the Sci-Fi model and tone?
