Okay. I looked in at Sauron's (and then Vader's) position in this, and I was rather quickly struck by a thought: Where do we put examples where a villainous leader leads from the front because he's the toughest Tin Tyrant around, without necessarily caring for his men all that much?
I'm proposing making "The Vader" a position on this scale between Theoden and Hammond: A badass warrior who leads from the front because he's a badass warrior, but may not necessarily care much about his men's lives, instead fighting either for glory or because his own power is a decisive element in the battle.
