Re cut: Hrmm, I see that since the example cut, the page has been quiet and without problems ... is there really reason to cut? Especially considering that the admins preferred to keep it as a locked, exampleless and disclaimed page rather than cutting or redirecting it (they did usually cut creepy pages in the past).
Also, Older Than They Look is a trope about appearances. Not necessarily about their in-story scope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman Hide / Show RepliesRegarding the new cut request, I'd like to note that Trope Repair Shop and the forums exist to discuss a redirecting. The Cut List is not really the place for it (and I still disagree with redirecting for the reasons mentioned above).
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanArticle says "and it's a bad thing.", "(poorly)" and "tenuous". These are at the very least questionable assertions and, more disturbingly, are attempts at cultural imperialism. They should be removed.
Hide / Show RepliesGenerally agreed, this is a fairly complex subject not made any less complex by differing laws about how far it can be taken, so it should be handled carefully and neutrally. If TV Tropes really is not about bashing media, then these words violate that policy.
Thirded. TV tropes is about describing things, not making judgemental or argumentative statements, and while certainly it's nice for articles to have some humor about them, they should maintain a certain amount of neutrality on the subject being described, rather than being a harsh opinion.
I don't normally post in these comment sections at all, but the phrasing of the article seemed out of place enough that it inclined me to check here. I am relieved to see polite and diffusing statements rather than a nasty argument.
Still there. Can this article please be deleted instead of pushing someones personal agenda in a locked state?
I, too, broke my usual habits to come here because it just seemed so - off. This seems to be a low-quality duplicate of Really 700 Years Old, used by someone Complaining About Shows You Don't Watch - in fact, I thought it was an older, less appropriate name for the same trope?
Regardless, it's great to see this consensus ... why is the page still here?
Edited by 109.76.206.14Yes. They were cut a while ago, and there is now a note in the page source saying "No examples of this paedopandering, please."
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. In the Anime section's Detective Conan mention, it should also say that Shinichi himself is a male example of this.
Hide / Show RepliesActually, him and Haibara are subversions. Their real age are old enough, but whatever forged documents should indicate that they're kids (unless that school is work together with Agasa and keep it as secret, which is unlikely) and thus it's illegal to touch them.
That remind me, there seem to be few more examples that seem to not fit here. For instance, Yuki Nagato, whose her documents should indicate that she's 15, even if she has gone through that timeloop. Plus, 15 is legal in Japan IIRC.
And could please someone please mention, that Al Azif is, in HP Lovecraft's story, the name of the book itself, not the author and that the author, Abdul Alhazred, was an mad author from Sanaa, woh was eaten alive by some weird ass invisible creature on a market street in Bagdad?
If you do drugs... Don't to roshnah!!I might upload a rather decent pic of fully clohed Mimi from Mnemosyne, if I were allowed to do so.
Hide / Show RepliesRotated the picture a bit; it just looked kinda awkward being sideways like that.
