Seriously... perhaps Have a Gay Old Time applies, maybe it's a British slang term that doesn't travel well, but "poofy" is a term for "in the manner of a camp gay person", at least in Britain. "Giant poofy sleeves" could be read as "quirk of gay male fashion", with the word "poof" being a low-level abuse term for "gay man". Hence, without spelling it out and hoping others might have seen it, I used "unfortunate" to describe the title.
