Would musicians who stack all their equipment in their homes but not garages count, or be a separate trope? Like Jean Michel Jarre while recording Oxygene or this cool pic
of Aphex Twin's home studio?
Gilmore Girls had a story arc involving a friend of one of it's protagonists having a garage band rehearsing in the main character's garage. The story arc spawns almost the whole length of the show.
