"Baleful Polymorph"? Maybe I'm missing something here, but why isn't it "Baleful Morph"? I'm used to thinking of a "polymorph" as an organism that can change its own shape or appearance at will, into many possible forms, like Odo from STTTNG. This seems to be about some entity changing another entity into one other thing without the second entity willing it. "Poly" as a root means "many". Something not right here. But I'm a FNG, what do I know? :)

Maybe the root 'poly' refers to the multiple (e.g., 2) forms a character goes through?

Trope name wise because it is based on the D&D spell Polymorph. I think the name in D&D 3rd Edition was literally Baleful Polymorph (I am 5th edition player so I am not 100% sure, in 5e it's called Polymorph or True Polymorph depending on the strength of the spell). As to why it's called that in D&D itself - perhaps because there many (poly-) different animals you can turn the target into. If we were to change the name to make it less tied to one fandom I'd suggest Baleful Metamorphosis rather than Baleful Morph though just because I think it scans better reading wise.

So I can't think of anything right now... meh.

There's a lot about the animal being useless in combat - is there a separate supertrope about turning someone into any animal? For example, this trope was deleted from Brave because someone is transformed into a pretty fearsome bear.

Change page quote perhaps? Theres a line from the same song as the current quote that i think fits this trope better.

Your changin, your changin, your changing allright/ I hope your satisfied/ But if you aint, dont blame me/ You can blame my friends on the other side!
