About the wartime shorts' Values Dissonance: I will grant "Japoteurs" — I felt a little dirty just typing that — and "Jungle Drums", though more for the natives than the Nazis, but what about the other two? I don't remember anything particularly offensive about "The Eleventh Hour" or "The Secret Agent".
Hide / Show RepliesI've just re-watched "The Eleventh Hour," and there are quite a few buck-toothed Japanese soldiers in it. They are by no means the worst racial caricatures from that period, but they fall well within the Mr. Yunioshi range. "Secret Agent" certainly features some silly German stereotypes (ze monocle-vearing boss going Was ist los?) and some pretty bad accents, but the physical caricaturing is not nearly as bad.
Edited by TannhaeuserOkay, good point. It had been a while, though "Secret Agent" sounds like a borderline case. (BZV, nice accent.)
