* The original Ninja Gaiden series on the NES, as if they weren't Nintendo Hard enough already, feature a Boss Rush as the final challenge, having to face off with three bosses, back to back, without a rest in between. What's worse, if you die to any of the bosses, you often go back to the very BEGINNING of the stage. The only small mercy is that any boss you defeated you wouldn't have to fight again, IF you were able to make it back.

Not a boss rush. It's just three bosses in sequence.

I'd question this being defined as 'previously fought bosses in sequence', since I know at least one game which has a boss rush level, but the bosses are all unique.
