What do you guys think about adding Ash and Misty? I know some people are weird about shipping in the Pokémon fandom, but the English dub seemed to be pretty convinced of it ("Misty's Song" anyone?). I wouldn't know about how the original Japanese version went as far as that's concerned... At any rate, I figure it would make sense to add "at least 4Kids wanted you to think so".
SMILE DARN YA SMILEI have to echo what I wrote on the UST discussion page - this trope is subjective and should be treated as such.
Hide / Show RepliesYou could make a case here, although you'll have difficulty convincing the forum.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynmanhmmm . . . i don't think anyone has yet addressed one squicky element of B.S.T - if leading to 'angry sex' —> which can be seen as possibly some sort of subverted, inverted, or sublimated / "consensual" rape - ((likely an extant trope, elsewhere)) . . . (&-or,) - which may, later, be regarded/ felt / interpreted / recalled / described as an actual rape - by one [or even either, both, neither, etc] party, or others . . . well, i'm not about to get any more convoluted as to the ethics and existentialism therein, just now — but, tis' food fer further thought - & tropery, eh? Unk
Edited by 69.172.221.4 Hide / Show RepliesOh - and obviously, the B.S.T. needn't be between two people in any actual [past, or potential / shipped, etc] couple - though generally it's a trope acted in pairs . . . And, contextually, it is often attributed to a merely/ sheerly physical attraction - being repressed or denied, by clashing character or smoldering grudge, etc . . .
Edited by 69.172.221.4I think you're seriously over-thinking it. "Angry sex" is still consensual between the two people. Rape of any kind doesn't factor into it.
About Star Trek Voyager...
Honestly, Tom and B'Elanna were a weird couple. First of all, that they even were attracted to each other came pretty much out of the blue with her Pon Farr thing, and IIRC it was kind of forgotten until that episode when they were trapped floating in interplanetary (or perhaps interstellar) space and confessed their love towards one another.
Personally I don't think they got an actual relationship until they got married pretty much.
Soupdragon; What!? No real life examples? There's gotta be real life examples outside the troperTales.
Edited by 94.210.249.197notreallyatroper: I gotta ask: what was wrong with the old picture? I liked it...
Hide / Show RepliesThe old picture was moved to the more appropriate Takahashi Couple page. And now we're seeing vandalism with Sackett reverting it to match his edits of Takahashi Couple. While Ranma and Akane WOULD fit in Belligerent Sexual Tension, they have their own page now and fit better there, while the Zero No Tsukaima characters DO NOT fit in Takahashi Couple, hence the swap.
It is not vandalism. It's supporting part of the agreement in the Trope Repair thread which was that Ranma and Akane would remain the page picture.
Don't know why you think you have authority to just change it on your own hook, and I don't have authority to switch them back.
I have switched back again. This time with explanations as to why. If you really want to change them, start a thread in the Image Picking forum and try to gain consensus and/or majority support.
