Is it just me, or is this part unnecessary?

Blue Bishōnen Ghetto and Pink Bishoujo Ghetto

Everyone is especially good-looking and sporting Anime Hair. No homely people here.

Isn't that the case with many anime in general, and not just Christianity as portrayed in anime?

Not necessarily. Those tropes are pervasive in anime, but they don't account for the majority of it.

In shows concerning Catholicism it is not unusually pervasive though, even Blue Exorcist features aged, regular and overweight people enough that "everyone" is an unweildy exaggeration.

The article does continually point out the celibacy that is asked of Catholic priests; but does neglect that there have been numerous exceptions to this rule especially for priests who are already married before joining the Catholic Church(e.g ex-Anglicans).

It's not especially notable that Catholics in these universe refer to the Church as "The Church" since that is what happens in reality(I just did it then too).

I do not know the current situation in Anglicanism but for Eastern Churches(in communion with Rome or not) and the Catholic Church; it nontheless remains an impossibility for a one in matrimony to become a bishop.

Given that Korea has a strong tradition of Christianity and a large and influential population of Christians (with both Protestant and Catholic Churches having a significant presence), I suggest it would be more proper to list supposed examples from Korean media under Fantastic Catholicism instead, seeing as that Korean audiences will generally be quite familiar with Christianity and thus more akin to Western than to Japanese audiences in that regard.

This trope seems to be more for portrayals of Christianity or Christian elements in East Asian cultures where it is considered exotic and only has a marginal presence. Korea doesn't fit with that since Christianity has a strong presence there.

You would have to construct a brand new trope and provide a detailed description And even then, people might feel it's already covered by Artistic License – Religion.

Is there a similar topic about how Eastern religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, etc.—are depicted in Western media?

About this:

Played for Laughs

The whole series may be a comedy, with a large percentage of the clergy portrayed as incompetent, ditzy or air-headed, especially if they are in-training junior nuns or priests. Even if the story is a drama, there will usually be a hand full of idiot acolytes who act as Comic Relief. This is very uncharacteristic, if not nonexistent in the west.

Should we mention that, despise this, we do have a trope know as Nuns Are Funny?

Nuns aren't clergy/clerics in Catholicism... in fact, they are by definition, laypersons... (prior to Vatican II, they were, like most brothers in orders, in a third category, called Religious, which is, post V II, folded back into the laity.) There are several references in the trope page to nuns as clerics, and it's bad form.

Does Justin from Soul Eater really count? It's not even clear whether Christianity exists in the Soul Eater universe.
