It seems like the Night Elf characters, even their entire faction, suffered serious Character Derailment as World of Warcraft progressed. Being immortal, along with the Draenei, they would have the most combat experience and could be among the best warriors, yet this is not addressed or depicted in the game, and they seem to have become the Chew Toy faction. As for their characters, Tyrande's skill as a tactician (successfully leading their military for thousands of years, and her more reasonable tendencies) and reasonable traits all but disappear by Mists of Pandaria, Furion pretty much usurps leadership away from instead of sharing it like they did in Warcraft 3, and Shandris, Tyrande's second in command and adopted daughter, is pretty much Put on a Bus. Why was this done? New writers? Character development taken in a negative direction or, as I suspect, Blizzardtrying to shillVarian and Stormwind?
