I'd say split into two pages (Protagonists, Friends, and Allies. Rivals and Villains.). The season will likely be over in a few months and that many pages seems excessive.
I've always wondered how long is "Overly Long", is it a word or character count? That would affect how it should be divided if anyone knows. Should I ask a Mod?
Preferrably. Fact is, it has to be divided in a way that makes editing easy again, because right now my text only appears minutes after I typed it, and that's if the page doesn't freeze.
I've split off a chunk for characters in the Mega Evolution special (Alain, Marion and others). Since at least for a time, they've had their own thing going on until their paths converged.
Still overly long. Should we move Team Flare to the Mega Evolution page since the same reason?
Someone REALLY screwed this up. All the info on Clemont, Bonnie, and Serena, as well as their Pokemon (including Squishy), is GONE.
Hide / Show RepliesMaybe starting with this page, we could including what Ash and Pikachu is in each region page, or make them in their main page?
Hide / Show RepliesWell, apparently the XY Character Page has gotten too big and needs to be broken up. At this rate, you would have to make an entire page dedicated to the XY anime alone, with its own subpages of characters, including Ash's.
Okay, so I'm looking at Talonflame's entry and a lot of the tropes use female pronouns. Where was it ever stated that Ash's Talonflame was female?
Hide / Show RepliesSee Tertiary Sexual Characteristics
Serena called her a specifically gendered term, and in one time it sported a red bow similar to that of Braixen.
It's in the same vein as of Dedenne where you only see the gender as hints (in Dedenne's case, all male Pokemon were wearing blue bows while females were wearing tiaras).
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life. What tiaras and blue bows? Is it from the episode where Eevee evolves into Sylveon?
Yep.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Okay, now that I've seen the episode... Talonflame doesn't even appear at all in the episode.
Edit: I changed instances of a supposed "she" and "her" back to "it".
Edited by PDLWhy is there a noticeable gap at the top of Noivern's tropes, between Baby Talk and Big Brother Worship? At first I thought it was because of a ZCE Cute Little Fangs. I deleted the latter since it wasn't even obvious, but the gap's still there.
You'll need to ask the Pokemon forum threads for images. Discussion pages don't receive much traffic.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCan someone upload images for Team Flare, as well as Siebold and Malva?
Also, Siebold and Malve need to be added to the "Pokémon Leaugue" entry. It's on my to-do list.
- Non-Elemental: It was a Normal/Flying-type, as Fletchling, before evolving.
Their status as a Normal-type was mentioned/hinted in the anime in any moment?
Edited by MagBas Hide / Show RepliesIt's a Normal-type in the games, it never has to actually be mentioned. The problem is that the type does not lend itself to providing any good context.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Well, at least the crossover games as Street Fighter X Tekken explicitly do not mention tropes exclusive to the original games/series. And the characters of the games do not mention tropes exclusive to their game version(ex- Erika is not a Heavy Sleeper in the anime.). And the Normal-type in a lot of Pokemon/moves was lost in new generations of the own games.
Edited by MagBasAsh's xy team needs a genral description section. Any suggestions besides they all have taking in a level of badass?
The Zero Context Examples of the Pokemon pages.
Ok, so, as some of you have seen today, there was kind of an edit-war on the Scottie/Shota character as to what constitutes as a ZCE. The examples are usually something as simple as adding the name of a Pokemon, or a Pokemon attack, that usually coincides with the trope example; like adding Slurpuff to a Our Fairies Are Different example or simply putting Flamethrower for Playing with Fire. These kind of simple trope examples are seen throughout all the other anime character pages, and no one had any prior issues to it. But suddenly, it's now a big no-no to do in the XY character pages.
Does that mean that every other example seen in the other character pages is wrong? Cause if so, that's a lot of ZC Es.
Edited by Retloclive RLL Hide / Show RepliesIf you see Zero Context Examples on other character pages, then they need to be corrected. And yes, that is a lot of ZC Es. A lot of those were probably written before the rules on ZC Es got ironed out.
If people are having problems with ZC Es, redirecting them to Zero-Context Example might help.
Edited by dragonfire5000Just as a reminder, edit warring against a moderator is the sort of thing that can get one banned. Don't do that again.
Beyond that, "these other examples have the same problem" does mean that they need fixing as well, not that the original example is somehow good.
Character pages have frequently ZCE issues because of the sheer effort needed in fixing them and the large number of editors adding them. That should not stop attempts to fix them, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMy suguesstion is
- for the character pages of Pokemon species is to remove the tropes that correspond to the type of the entries and mention them in the description, only keeping elemental topes for moves outside their STA Bs at best. Only keeping the examples explaining why the type fits.
- for the anime character pages, we should do the same on pokemon with specific entries (like Ash's and Serena's) and mention the types for characters who Pokemon do not have their own entries (like Scottie's)
Can we split up the page? It's quite frankly becoming far too tedious to edit. I don't know how to do it, though. What I do suggest Is that you create 5 sub-pages: Protagonists, secondary characters/rivlas, Pokémon League (Elite 4 and Gym Leaders), Mega Evolution Special (Alain, Mairin, Steven Stone) And Team Flare. I suggest this gets done as soon as possible, before any other edits, even, because the next few episodes will be very narratively driven and feature lots of tropes.
