I saw the Character index and the characters page and they’re completely different.
Can we add individual page for Cabba and Caulifla and delete the major characters page for universe 6?
I thought the index could use a bit of visual decluttering, so I made this to prototype an alternative look.
Character Specific Page cleanup Hide / Show RepliesThis thread has established that the byte limit for creating new character-specific pages is at 40,000 bytes. Taking a quick look through the folders, these characters seem like they could have their own personal pages:
- Gero (47,524)
- Beerus (102,760)
- Frost (55,642)
- Hit (47,118)
- Kale (41,313)
- Morro (55,788)
- Mr. Satan (41,938 - you have no idea how much this made my day)
For Dragon Ball Universe 6 Major Characters I'd suggest cut-listing it and splitting Frost, Hit and Kale while the other two are merged with Dragon Ball Universe 6.
Edited by EmeraldEmperor Hide / Show RepliesI took the liberty of making the pages and adding the links under the various parent pages
I don't know what the consensus is on giving groups their own pages, but the Red Ribbon Army currently has 63,783 bytes while the Ginyu Force has 52,324.
Chi-chi is also close to warranting her own page with a byte count of 38,279.
I can't help but feel as though Moro and his crew should probably be moved to their own page instead of being grouped with the Galactic Patrol, as a main antagonist force for an arc.
Bulma's mother's name was revealed by Toriyama in the new DBZ game, should we update her page ?
我が斬艦刀に断てぬものなし! Hide / Show RepliesToriyama said in a 2004 interview that her name would be Panchy (from "Panty"), but DBZ Kakarot called her Bikini.
Keet cleanupMaybe Beerus and Whis should have their own page now (not advocating for every Tom, Dick n Harry having their own pages like before but surely they're important enough to be an exception)? Their folders are awfully long.
Would be viable to add a page for all the Saiyan transformations?
Hide / Show RepliesI thought that might be a good idea a while ago but I guess it stretches the definition of "character" too much.
I've looked through the whole character folder, and where the hell is Chiaotzu?
He's not listed on any of the lists and he's not in either secondary character folder.
Hide / Show RepliesHe's under ”Main Characters" because the organization here makes zero sense.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. Not a lot of stuff referencing the current Moro arc happening in the manga.
Particularly Buu's page should probably be updated, since he's a major player in that arc.
The Grand Supreme Kai has also been upgraded to a full on living/supporting character in the arc, and should probably be placed amongst Universe 7's deities or some other page, given his current importance.
I moved Beerus and Whis to the Universe 7 page since it fits the pattern of the other universes. It also seems to fit within the page limit.
If the page breaks in the future because it got too long we can create a page for Beerus and Whis together since they often appear together.
Edited by DocJamore Hide / Show RepliesSounds fair. I never liked Whis having his own page anyway, mostly because while important, he rather minor in the scheme of things.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.I will add the major supporting cast page tomorrow but there is one problem. Videl does not belong on there. She feels like she is not important enoguh to qualify to to be a "main character" either. I mean what has she done? She layed her role for a quarter of the Buu arc, married Gohan, and spat out Pan. If I were to put her there I might as well put Marron there too. I think I will be putting her on the Z/GT supporting cast page. It will not break the page. I checked.
Edited by DocJamoreI was never a fan of giving either Videl nor Chichi their own pages, since they are secondary characters.
Videl belongs in the Z/GT supporting cast page, like she was before.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back. This is how this will work then. I managed to fit Bulma and Krillin on the "Major Supporting Cast" without breaking it. If it gets too long in the future we could move someone like Yamcha or Tien to the Main Character Page.
Chi Chi will go the main character page.
Videl will go to the DBZ supporting cast page.
Unfortunately because of the number of inbound links the old pages can not be cut so they will have to made into redirects. I will have to look up how to do that.
Edit: All the Character pages have been redirected.
Edited by DocJamoreNow that Super is over can we all admit that we maybe went a little crazy giving so many Characters their own pages? There is a difference between playing it safe and going absolutely overboard guys.
A lot of these Characters do not deserve their own pages. They should be merged into a "Major Supporting Characters Page" like before this insanity started.
Edited by DocJamore Hide / Show RepliesThese Characters do not have enough tropes deserve their own pages and should be merged into common folders:
Bulma
Master Roshi
Yamcha
Chi-Chi
Krillin
Tien
Androids 17 and 18
Mr. Satan/Hercule
Videl
All of Universe 6
Ribrianne
Toppo
Broly
Zeno
Edited by DocJamoreAgree. A character usually gets his own page when he has too many examples, but most of these pages are not even that long...
IMO we can keep the pages for Krillin, Bulma, and maybe the Androids. All the other characters in this list don't deserve their own page
Broly has his own page because 1) He is a Breakout Character in the franchise, and 2) the Dragon Ball movie villains page was getting too crowded for its own good. That's why I also created the Frieza Empire page: to give the Rof characters a place, and taken them out of the movie villains.
Zeno also has his own page to combine his both versions, like with Zamasu. Even if Zeno doesn't have as many tropes.
I agree with Universe 6. I wasn't fond of their members getting their own subpage per character.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.@annette12 Disagree, but Krillin & Burma can keep their pages till we see how shared page looks. Not sure 17 & 18 have enough tropes to deserve their own page. For now though we can create a shared folder for the Major Supporting Cast and add the characters without any objections to it.
@Tomodachi Bardock is also a Breakout Character and I do not see him with a page. How cluttered a page is less important than the total length of the page. If a page has become to long than a warning bar will be shown when the edit screen is opened. That should the only reason to split a page. If you think a page is too cluttered there are other methods such as creating a bar using !! or !!!, not splinting a pages up. I really do not buy the justification that Zeno and his alt self are "too confusing" to deserve his own page. He has nothing on Black and Zamasu.
For now though I want to address the main problem and clean up the clutter. Spit-shining can come later.
Here is how this could work for now:
Major Supporting Cast for the Z fighters who do not deserve their own pages.
Major Universe 6 Characters for Universe 6 with their own pages.
Other Characters can be put into similar folders, like their own Universe pages.
This should clean some of the clutter. If no one objects, I will start some minor mergers this Saturday. Edited by DocJamore
You got my vote. I recommend just making a separate page for Team universe 6, and return Champa and Vados to the Universe 6 page.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.As someone who made a lot of edits on those character pages dedicated to only one character, I must agree with @Doc Jamore in that yeah, we went maybe a little crazy giving so many Characters their own pages. I agree with most of @Tomodachi's points, though, especially in giving a theme-based page for certain characters if their folders are too big (such as Frieza's Empire, or an hypothetical Team Universe 6) so as to not give them a sole page.
I still believe Zeno should have his own character page due to being a major character in three sagas of Super (And who knows, maybe even more), and due to containing both of his versions. Besides, he is quite a major character in the grand scale of things.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Shouldn't at least Zamasu be listed as a Universe 10 character? I mean putting him in brackets under Universe 10.
Hide / Show RepliesI guess because of the confusing nature of the character. He is from U10, but also from the future, and his fusion is between himself and his present self.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.True, but even his future counterpart is from that universe. I would count Black as a U10 character since he is originally Zamasu and is still Zamasu in his core, but I would not list him here as a U10 character for spoiler reasons. Zamasu on the other hand, since they are all ultimately the same person, I would list him as a U10 character. By the way, his current main image depicts his future version, but not his present version (you can see that on his Potaras).
I know about the Potara earring in his ear, but since both characters are not that different from each other visually, I found the idea of giving Present and Future a picture redundant.
Since Goku Black is from U10, but his body is from U7 from an alternate timeline, I guess he counts he counts his own individual spot.
Besides, I'll admit is a bit of laziness from my part for changing Zamasu's spot.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.I have no problem with Black. It's just Zamasu.
Regarding the Potara, it might be redundant, but back then, the Potara were clues for us viewers to what was going on and they did play an important part in the story. People speculated a lot because of them (whether Gowasu is Black because they have the same Potara, and if Zamasu stole them from Gowasu when Future Zamasu showed up, etc.)
Why Black Goku and Zamasu have two separate pages if are the same person?
Hide / Show RepliesBecause them being the same person is a spoiler and Black has enough tropes by himself that he's as big as the Zamasu page.
Since Gohan and Videl are married, should the Son family name be added to her entry?
So either I'm blind, or Grandpa Gohan isn't on the character sheet at all. Given his influence on Goku (hell, he named his first son after him), he really deserves a spot, so if he's not there, could someone who actually knows something about the series add him?
Re: Names, I'd rather a compromise. My personal tastes besides, I think some of the dub terms are helpful or at least will let *most* people reading get it without having to look things up (like Special Beam Cannon as opposed to Makankosappo) while some things are direct translations/differences in romanization (Wolf Fang Fist and Rogafufuken, and Boo/Buu), and the dub names for the different forms of Majin Boo also are helpful, since there's no other agreed upon terms there.
There's no way to please everyone, but considering you can get into the series via the Manga (which has translation differences from the dub and subtitle track), via subs whether you're a Subtitle-only anime watcher or deaf (there are no dubtitles as far as I know; so if you're deaf and wanting to watch DB, you'll be doing so via Funi's subtitles anyway, as well as Funi's dub.)
I'm really bad at talking, forgive my long post... basically:
Making Freeza the preferred and consistent spelling wouldn't confuse people (and it would save a lot of spelling errors in the long run), meanwhile Rogafufuken, Makankosappo and Djinn Boo probably would.
I propose going with the Funimation Subtitles first and foremost, saving dub names for stuff people would have an easier time recognizing such as attacks and such.
I'm a shooting star leaping through the sky like a tiger, defying the laws of gravityWhat say anyone to standardizing the names to the Funimation dub? They're the license-holders and produced the version most recognizable to English-speaking audiences. Some quick notes on alternate spellings should be sufficient to keep everyone happy.
Groovy.I think Bardock should be moved to Main Characters, especially now that he has his own spinoff.
Are Vegeta and Buu from DBZ karma houdinis? Before the story both were responsible for destroying who knows how many planets of populated beings without a shred of remorse. In the series itself Vegeta slew a bunch of Nameks and bragged out it later. He abandoned his son for the early part his life willingly. Against Cell he allowed Cell to achieve his perfect form and he allowed himself to be controlled by an evil magician to have the power to satisfy his pride. Yet, after the Frieza saga no one ever really calls him out on any of his crap or about how he had killed who knows how many without a shred of remorse. Does his heel face turn somehow protect him or does his past and getting the crap beat out of him numerous times count as Karma?
Pretty much the same with Buu. Does the fact Evil Buu is insane to begin wtih and later killed and Fat Buu is pretty much naively innocent make Buu not a karma houdini?
Where'd all the Complete Monster refferences go? I know it's a subjective trope, but come on. Some of these villains are nothing but iredeemably evil.
Hide / Show RepliesDoesn't matter. Complete Monster doesn't go on works pages anymore, that's the rule.
Really, b/c there are some works pages which still feature the Complete Monster Trope.
Could we please pick a spelling for the names and stick with it. Most of the edits here are changing the names back and forth!

Cute Shotaro Boy not means "cuddly boy",but "boy preocupped with responsability and duty". His father is a really best example.
