I brought this up on the danganronpa 2 male characters page, but i think Fuyuhiko's section is large enough to warrant getting a page of his own, of course, i don't want to move him into his own page until i know that everyone would be okay with this change. So lemme know what you think?
Hide / Show RepliesIf it has at least 40,000 bytes then it’s large enough for him to get a page. I think we’re supposed to see Cleanup Thread: Character Specific Pages before creating pages though.
Yeah, just to make sure it's run through and clean of any errors or misuse
Character Specific Page cleanupsomething small but that i want to ask about is that i noticed v3's female and male student pages order has been reversed on this page specifically so that the male students page comes before the female one.
that makes it more consistent with the other installments' listing here (albeit inconsistent with the index on the actual character pages), but the other character pages' order is based on their protagonists all being boys, and so v3's was ordered female first to reflect kaede being the protagonist a little better, and while her status as a protagonist is obviously a little complicated, her being the makoto/hajime is still the impression official media tends to go with most of the time (and the impression one is meant to go in with).
since it's all subjective (both how much we should keep to the framing of kaede as the protagonist and if that little detail should be preserved to begin with), are there any opinions on this ? i think it showing the female students first is a good touch to keep in-line with how she's sort of the 'chosen' protagonist and shuichi is more of an investigative assistant (ala kyoko or chiaki/nagito) who's forced to step up to being a protag himself, but i understand consistency might be the priority and simpler (and from what i've read it doesn't sound like there's a rule that'd dictate one over the other ?).
Edited by Moonlight-MeowrganGiven that Monokuma's presence is the primary element that ties the series together, perhaps we should consider giving him his own page, rather than splitting his tropes between the pages for each game he appeared in?

Edited by IkeaHan Character Specific Page cleanupSo apparently this section has been on the Overly Long Pages list since late last March, so we have to start thinking about what to do about that.
I propose a two-way split by "Students" and "Other" (including antagonists and such). Being that they take up some 80% of the page, should that student-centric page become too long, we split it by Male and Female Students while moving the "Students Collectively" section to the main Characters page (the namespace currently being occupied, in other words).
However, even if the page isn't supposed to be spoiler-friendly, Fujisaki might pose a problem with that line of thinking.
Edited by Alucard Hide / Show RepliesSo, splitting everyone up into students and non-students sort of helped, but I'm still occasionally getting browser crashes when I try to make large edits, and the preview is taking at least 7-10 seconds to load (often longer). Further though, the new "Dangan Ronpa Students' section is still too long and was recently added back onto Overly Long Pages (like I said, they're responsible for about 80% of the tropes here). So I'd like to move forward with my plan to split them by gender, with Fujisaki kept with the boys.
On another note, I'm finding myself a little confused with where to add Mukuro Ikusaba tropes: it's not as though Ikusaba and 'Enoshima' are supposed to be different people (and acknowledging that also pays tribute to Naegi's/the creator's thoughts about her being just another victim in the game, same as Ogami). I think it'd be smarter to roll both her descriptions/page pictures into one on the students page and then link back to that page on the antagonists section like other Character articles do when dealing with groups or factions. I wanted to do the same with Fukawa and Genocider, since her section in Absolute Despair Girls has a spot set aside for tropes shared by the two. In the context of an action game, it makes sense to split the two based on gameplay differences and the like while here in a Speech-Centric Work, they serve a similar function in the story.
Anyway, if no one has any problems with these changes, I'd like to move forward with this idea. I'll leave this discussion sitting here for a week at least.
Edited by AlucardDone. I'd like to move forward with my idea to migrate Genocider and Ikusaba's tropes over to Danganronpa — Female Students, but that's a discussion for another day.
Edited by AlucardI want to move all the tropes pertaining to "Danganronpa IF" over to their appropriate section in the main article. Mainly because it's confusing having to clarify that I'm writing about an "IF" specific scenario, and the story wasn't written by Kazutaka: that leaves the chance for characterization inconsistencies. Unfortunately, that also means creating some redundancies between the main article and this page's tropes while also gutting Ikusaba's section pretty badly (though I'd argue her getting two sections on a page that doesn't demand spoiler-tagging is pretty redundant).
If no one objects, I'll migrate the "IF" specific tropes on my next edit.
Edited by Alucard Hide / Show RepliesDone on one end. Now I'll be killing the "IF" tropes in this article.
Since the old discussion regarding the setup of the student folder once it got too big to fit in a single folder appears to be lost in the ether, I'd like to get some consensus on the matter before an edit war breaks out.
Which style of organization for the folders would you prefer?
1. The current method - leave the students folderless and all other characters within.
2. The original method - organize students by gender.
3. The alternative method - split the student folder in half without additional organization.
So, any opinions on the matter? Personally, I prefer 2, but would be okay with 3. In the current style, it just doesn't look right for only some of the characters to be folderized.
There also seems to be some question as to whether a male character qualifies as a Damsel in Distress or a Distressed Dude. I might bring that one to the "ask the tropers" section to get some opinions on the matter.
Hide / Show RepliesI'd say 1. There's a certain student who would make separation by gender rather messy. There are numerous character pages out there that only puts spoilerific characters in folders, so I don't see the problem. Plus, the Damsel in Distress page only said "usually female" in the unabridged version.
Edited by 116.48.194.168Regarding the issue of the "certain student" in question, I did take that under consideration when the list first got too big to fit in a single folder.
My solution was to put Chihiro in the female folder, since that is the gender you are initially led to believe he is, and his real gender is a spoiler. If this is still too much of an issue, the #3 method would solve that problem.
The rest appears to be simply a question of style. I think having all characters in folders makes the character sheet easier to browse.
How about we separate the survivors from the dead students, but disguise them as parts 1 and 2?
Edited by 183.179.83.31With such a big change to the page, it's...probably not wise to simply change it on your own whim without feedback. As it is, I still prefer method 2. The problem with the current idea (since the last edit is): separating by surviving and dead students is pretty conspicuous, considering the lopsided numbers we're dealing with.
'Cuz every night, I will save your life. And every night I will be with you. And every night I lay awake and dream Of An AbsolutionI agree with the above, in that the number of characters in each folder is now suspiciously lopsided. I still think either method #2 or #3 would be best.
And yeah, it's a good idea to at least wait a while for feedback before making big changes like this. For instance, I gave it a week after I posted the discussion before changing things, so I could get some consensus on the matter.
Since consensus seems to be in favor of method 2, I'll just go and change it back now, if there's no objections.
If anyone has an alternate method to suggest, please discuss it here and wait for feedback before implementing it. If people keep changing the page to their favored version without getting any sort of consensus, then it just leads to an Edit War and things get ugly.
Ahem. Sorry, but I think only a few days have passed after you posted your suggestion... I couldn't access the Internet until now, so my vote would be method #3.
Sorry if I pulled the trigger a bit too fast.
I am willing to accept method #3 if enough people are in favor of it. I'd really like to get some other opinions on the matter, though. Otherwise, it looks like most of the people here prefer #2.
How about I just edit it first. If anybody has any problem, they could post their opinion here. I'll check the discussion page once daily, alright?
The whole point of the discussion was to not go trigger happy with the edits solo. In any case, the consensus still seems to be leaning on 2.
'Cuz every night, I will save your life. And every night I will be with you. And every night I lay awake and dream Of An AbsolutionI'd prefer to wait to get a consensus before changing things, too. Let's not jump the gun here.
I think the consensus right now is leaning toward #2, but I do want to hear from some other people. Any comments or opinions would be very much appreciated.
I'm leaning towards #2 out of all the options presented so far, but also a thingie:
There's a report cards section on the ElectroiD, that has the students split by gender, if I recall... aside from Chihiro who is listed beside the females, at the very end of the list. I'd suggest splitting them the original way and order them akin to the ElectroiD report cards?
Edited by 198.53.211.125That's a really good idea, actually. I think I might go with that.
Is everyone else okay with this? I'll wait a few more days before making the changes, in case anyone else wants to chime in. It appears that the consensus was strongly pointing toward choice #2 anyway.
For the record, this would be the proposed order(put in spoilers just to be safe).
Male Students: Naegi, Ishimaru, Togami, Mondo, Leon, Yamada, Hagakure
Female Students: Maizono, Kirigiri, Asahina, Fukawa, Sakura, Celes, Junko, Chihiro
Edited by 24.60.145.123I'm cool with separating things that way.
'Cuz every night, I will save your life. And every night I will be with you. And every night I lay awake and dream Of An AbsolutionCool. Now that I've waited a few days, I can see that the vast majority of the people here have come to a consensus. So I'll go ahead and make the changes now, if no one minds.
Any feedback and suggestions would be appreciated. Just don't go reverting things without feedback.
Someone pleaze give Shuichi and Kaede there own pages. Same with Chiaki and maybe Gundham.
