On evidence for \\\"giant Mata Nui Robot\\\" being planned all along, recall that the Metru Nui arc established that Metru Nui has two \\\"suns\\\" (holes in the cavern ceiling) and is the northernmost location in the Matoran world; which corresponds perfectly to it being in the robot\\\'s head, with the suns as Mata Nui\\\'s eyes. This part was also when Greg established that, despite appearances, not just Metru Nui but the entire known world is underground; in retrospect this seems an odd bit of worldbuilding until the \\\"robot\\\" explanation. TheGodsMustBeLazy and GodsNeedPrayerBadly tropes also make a ton of sense for the robot.
