I'm thinking this would be better troped under TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot instead, as it was the plotline surrounding the Soul King that got cut short, including all the back story information, the reason why the first image of it had its limbs but the second image had lost them, what happened to the legs (since only the arms and heart were introduced) and the fact that those three, who were characterised, were also cut short.
