You don't. Tropes have the names they have.

I think they mean redirect titles.

We don't make custom names for that reason. This page lists the reasons to make one.

^^ I get that, and that's the point—tropes have specific names, and we don't create redirect titles, since that would screw up alphabetization.

^ Uh...We sort of do, though? You might not be thinking of the same thing I am.

We don't use redirect titles in trope lists, sure, but that's not the same thing.

^ Yeah, my mistake. What I meant, but forgot to actually spell out, is that we don't create redirects just so we can give a trope a new cool name. Redirects aren't for that purpose.

Right. Listed in Creating New Redirects as not a reason to make a redirect is "Variant names for tropes that don't improve clarity, but are simply a way to disguise a Pot Hole.", which is what this sounds like, since changing the name from one reference to another does nothing to improve clarity, nor does "punching Superman through a wall" explain what the syndrome actually is (to be fair, neither does "the Worf Effect", but that one's been around long enough most tropers who have been around awhile know what it is regardless)

We mostly make new redirects for the purpose of searchability. For example, Obnoxious Entitled Housewife has the redirect of The Karen because the latter name would be a non-indicative trope name, but it will help people who search for a trope that fits the "Karen" meme to find the actual trope name.

"Punching superman through a wall syndrome" is not something people will likely search up. Maybe if that video gains enough traction and it becomes a popular offsite term, it can be a helpful redirect.

Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

^ What I find funny is that the main trope page for Obnoxious Entitled Housewife has 198 inbounds, yet The Karen, the most common slang term for the archetype, has only a single measly inbound.

Anyways, mightymewtron has already said what needs to be said here. We mostly create new redirects for searchability (one notable exception is gendered trope names), and unless “Punching Superman Through A Wall Syndrome” becomes a common term, there’s no point in creating a new redirect.
