Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Not to mention the characters page draft has a lot of glaring issues- such as ZCEs and one example with First-Person Writing in it.
Edit: And plaigarism...
Edited by WarJay77 Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAs far as I know, being edit banned/suspended does not automatic preclude the privilege to participate in TLP. I'm pretty sure TLP bans are separate.
Plagiarism is a huge red flag though. They should probably be given a tap.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I'm not sure why that is though. I've seen people get double-banned for using the TLP to circumvent Edit Bans, and making a TLP draft is an attempt to get new content added to the wiki- which is the thing an Edit Ban is meant to avoid letting people do. I feel like it's some form of Evasion, as they're trying to get around their ban by making other people launch the trope and fix their mistakes.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAlso his TLP suggestions... aren't great?
Eloquent Skeleton boils down to "a skeletal character who can speak" note and then there's Shallow Deconstruction, which as I pointed out has a decent idea buried in it but was really poorly done and his responses just aren't... right? Also in the latter's case it was made with a dearth of examples, bad grammar, and nonexistent wiki syntax but... yeah.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThey did appeal again a short while ago, and Septimus says they still need to use Get Help With English. They did use it recently, and still have issues with grammar and typos, but I'm not sure what the standards are for using TLP to make work pages if you're banned. They can't make the work pages from TLP, and others can clean up their English and grammar before launching, so I guess it's not really evasion, per se?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I personally consider it evasion just because it's still an attempt to add content to the wiki and people would have to clean up after them to make anything viable. Plus, their TLP record is simply not good and other people would have to launch the pages for them, which is making someone else do the hard work of crosswicking and preparing for launch.
I mean, it's up to the mods I guess, but this is how I feel about it.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAlso, since it wasn't mentioned yet: they tried to make a work page in TLP a short while ago to get around their ban, and were informed of the plagiarism and typo issues back then.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. In that case, I think a potential IP check would be necessary.
Edited by gjjones He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.^ Why? If they were using a separate account for ban evasion, I would understand. But that's not what they're doing here.
IP check didn't turn up anything, and I don't see why it was needed. That said, their TLP contributions are bad enough to justify a suspension from there as well.

Troper "Avenger 09" has been actively creating proposed trope pages despite (per their own admittance) likely being under a lengthy suspension (their troper profile suggests they last edited in 2017). See this Trope Proposal which says:
"I noticed this https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/Anachronox was not filled in so I went ahead and made some entry's for this, frankly, underrated game.
"Since I cannot edit due to a long suspension I'm enduring. I've placed it here to gain attention to this oversight."
They've proposed this trope as well, which currently has enough hats to launch despite having a sketchy, awkwardly-worded description (including a typo).
May or may not be a problem, but wanted to make somebody aware of this.
