The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
I'd be interested in seeing where this goes, for what it's worth.
Slight side-topic — one of the comments for that Agahnim post mentions someone having had a similar revelation with the platforms from Air Man's stage in Mega Man 2. Any idea what's going on there?
I'm not sure. I'm assuming that person is referring to these platforms◊, but I don't know what they thought the platforms looked like.
Edited by DrNoPuma He may be a giant, nightmarish brute, but like all villains in this series,he sure can sing.EDIT: Whoops, they probably actually meant these platforms◊. I can see how the tube could be either a mouth, or a nose, with the line at the bottom being the mouth instead. I'm not sure which it's supposed to be, though.
He may be a giant, nightmarish brute, but like all villains in this series,he sure can sing.I'm guessing it's a Japanese-style octopus mouth, but yeah, I can see the mouth at the bottom now too. Thanks.
Another example would be "Eggette" aka "Omelette", based on misinterpreting a sprite of Eggman from Sonic Mania.
I remember there being a TLP for this years ago, but I don't know if it was discarded.
Look at this artwork of Agahnim from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The creator shows how he misinterpretated the headdress of Agahnim's sprite as a silly-looking head, while the character's actual head is just below that.
I haven't seen a trope like this, but I feel like there's a YMMV-worthy concept here. It's like the visual version of a Mondegreen. The closest I can think of is Unfortunate Character Design, but I don't think that really fits this.
Do we have this? Is it YMMV-worthy?
