Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Having a trope be The Same But More is generally frowned upon. It is Character Derailment (I assume it is, anyway - I've never watched Family Guy, but the situation you described is Character Derailment), and that's all it needs to be.
Trope inquiries like this generally belong on Lost And Found.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"NO. Character Derailment is Flame Bait and will be deleted. Since Brian was used as an Author Avatar, could count as Author's Saving Throw or Take That Me.
Keeper of The Celestial Flame
So... In Family Guy, we know that Brian has suffered some MASSIVE character derailment... But from what I've seen of the show recently, and reading up on the Character Derailment page (not to mention the Family Guy page)... This just doesn't seem to be sufficient?
Is there a more specific trope of Character Derailment when it's Taken Up To Eleven and beyond? I mean, hell. Brian used to be intellectual, well educated, and generally knew what he was talking about... Now he's just blowing hot air.
