I'd add a fifth issue: Many of the reasons listed for why the film (allegedly) drove away fans have to do with the production and creators. But Audience-Alienating Premise is about the premise of the film itself - the ideas underlying the plot and subject matter.

Yeah, honestly Audience-Alienating Premise just doesn't apply.

The premise is perfectly fine (that said, the Dark Phoenix storyline has been botched so thoroughly and repeatedly that it may be an AAP the next time they try to adapt it), but people don't care for the Troubled Production.
