For what it's worth, one of the people edit warring over it got snippy in Edit/banned so won't be a problem barring ban evasion. Also the RWBY entry on the trope seems excessively long at first glance. Or is it just me?

It doesn't even qualify under the broad second definition, as Jaune was not at the scene of Pyrrha's death and did not discover the body.

So yeah, kill it with fire. Just as Cinder did to Pyrrha.

I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.

This should have been brought to the discussion tab before either of Knightofbalance or EverythingIsAwful started an Edit War over it. Both tropers are guilty in that respect.

As for the trope page, you really need to stay true to the definition of the trope, otherwise it's not applied in the story. Ergo, burn down any and all generic examples that don't fit with the "brutally murdered with the intent to cause emotional damage to another" idea.

Pyrrha's death against Cinder comes about as the unsurprising denouement of a duel where a merciless and sadistic villain wins, and the latter was already in the middle of executing the former when Ruby butted in, meaning that Cinder in no way acknowledged Ruby's presence to even make the "intent to emotionally damage someone" part relevant.

Stuffed in the Fridge really needs TRS love for chronic misuse and this is a symptom of it. I think it just kind of festers though because nobody wants to be the one to step-up and tackle that mess.

Yeah, it looks that now Stuffed into the Fridge basically amounts to "female character dies".

Yeah, people misuse it. Mostly for Disposable Woman, but this is particularly bad. She was fighting Cinder. She was a combatant. There was Kick the Dog there, sure, but she was killed for practical reasons.

Yeah this is a bad example which ignores the fact that Cinder didnt really care about her and it wasnt to spite anyone else.

They were in a fight to the death. It happens that sometimes the good guys don't win those. So this is an awful misuse, best exemplified by the fact that the majority of the much longer than needed entry is spent trying t justify why its an example rather than simply stating why its an example.

By the way could you check out Everything Is Awful as they PM'd about the removal and tried (emphasis on the word tried) really hard to spin that it was this trope after I deleted it. I disagreed and said Mod action would be taken if this edit warring continues but they still refused to conceed.

I've sent a PM. If they still insist, they may need to be brought in.
