Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

You may want Trope Finder.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
Looking for a trope, totally can't find it...although maybe it's named something funky that doesn't sound like what I'm thinking of.
Fairly frequent in comedies...imagine someone who is getting ready for something they don't usually do; maybe it's a first date, maybe they've come from a foreign country and are trying to fit in, maybe getting ready for a job interview, whatever.
So they go to a clothing store—or maybe their own closet—and start trying on outfits. And, with backing pop music, they keep stepping out wearing something new, and their friends keep miming horrified faces—no speech!—until FINALLY the dork gets it right, and everybody nods and thumbs them up.
This was VERY frequent in the 80s; not so sure about today. Got a name for that? I can't find one.
