Painful Rhyme, maybe?
Edited by CharisetOn another note, I remember that book; from the Myth-o-mania series. The author visited our school and she said that it was a pun, on how she thought Persephone's name was pronounced 'Purse Phone', which a 'Purse Phone' makes an appearance in the book, hence the title.
The poetic term for words used as rhymes that look similar but don't actually sound the same is eye rhyme. I don't think we have a page for it, though.
Thank you everyone~ ^___^
Is there a trope for works that feature a word in their titles that would rhyme with the rest of the title, but only when pronounced incorrectly?
As a specific example, there's a book I read when I was younger called "Phone Home Persephone", so I thought for a while that Persephone=Purse Eh Phone, as that would be the rhyme. Apparently, though, it's Persephone=Per-seh-phon-ee, which I would never have guessed from the title.
Different from Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion, I think, as when just read, you don't necessarily know that it's a subverted rhyme, it's only if you do actually know the word/later when you learn the word that you realize that, no, it doesn't actually rhyme.
