Is which characters are reincarnated relevant to the page, or is it just interesting information?

Reincarnation isn't a character trope, per say, so it should prolly not be on the character page. Especially since in this case you need to spoiler tag the entire example.

The identities of which "deity" each character reincarnates to aren't all that important, since the whole point of the act is that they become the four elemental lords, basically. The credits were indeed the only way to know who became who.

True. But... if the correct information is publicly available, and there's a place on the relevant work pages where the information might be placed, shouldn't the information be accurate?

Well them being reincarnated is a semi important note for the characters involved. The identity itself is not outright important, it's just factually what happeneds.

I've think the issue is that people weren't sure who reincarnated into who, and guessed when it came out in Japan.

Have you PM'd the other troper asking why they changed it?
