If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it isI'm not sure that a "fake" version of a specific character really counts as an extra.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it isIf they're still appearing, the character hasn't been Put on a Bus. Simple. The role the "fake" version of them plays in their appearances is still contributing to the story, even if they don't have their own plot (which may make it Demoted to Extra). But, yeah, Put on a Bus isn't just a character physically leaving (which would be PSOC).
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!
Is there a trope for when a character is Put on a Bus and no longer present in the plot, but the actor playing them sticks around because the character's likeness still appears in flashbacks/dreams/visions/hallucinations/hologram simulations/whatever on a fairly regular basis (and not just as an entirely separate character who just happens to look like them or is otherwise played by the same actor)?
