I thought that was it, but the trope description said that Broken Birds are prone to voilence. The caracter I'm thinking of would be more likely to turn on the the water works or run away when upset.

I think that's "Broken Birds, as a trope, have a tendency to be violent", rather than meaning that they always individually have a tendency towards violence. It's not a necessary part of the trope.

Sounds like someone got an idea from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. If you YKTTW this I will help :)

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.

If she's shy because of a bad relationship, it's The First Cut Is the Deepest

Otherwise, a girl who can't or won't trust and opens up only slowly is a Broken Bird. The trope description says a Broken Bird can get violent, but I see it as more of a panicky got-to-get-away flailing or something out of shell shock (she's not really attacking him; she's attacking a demon she's hallucinating)
