The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
Lady and Knight should work, especially if the warrior has a bit of a Bodyguard Crush on the diplomat, Sword and Sorcerer might work for more intellectual mages (as opposed to mages whose only answer to everything is "fling a BIG fireball at it!"). If the diplomat is Action Survivor, it's Action Duo.
Edited by VeanneIt still doesn't match two of those tropes 100%: Lady and Knight relies often om Bodyguard Crush and doesn't require the Lady to be a diplomat, while Sword and Sorcerer is restricted to Speculative Fiction only.
I don't know if it could be considered distinct enough from Brains And Brawns, though.
Oo oo ah ahPerhaps more like, a duo of close characters whose approach to situations are peaceful and violent?
Foil is really general but you can use that as a start
Several options, possibly overlapping depending on the details
- Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo - one is excitable and impulsive, one is calm and even-keeled
- Ham and Deadpan Duo - one is extroverted, the other more reserved. Could apply to a fast-talking con artist and a stoic enforcer as easily as a courtly smooth talker and their partner the abrasive loudmouth.
- Noble Male, Roguish Male - one is refined and respectful, the other thinks the attempt to parley made a great distraction for the backstabbing
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man - one favors empathy and reason, the other favors his fists.
Lotta options.

I don't think we have a trope for when a warrior and a diplomat are part of a Red Oni, Blue Oni duo. Sort of like Combat, Diplomacy, Stealth, but without Stealth, and it's two characters.
Unless Athens and Sparta can apply to characters.
