Team Pet definitely works, but also: Talking Animal (in many cases) and Mentor Mascot (when the creature teaches the team members about powers and provides exposition in general).

Exactly what it says on the tin. Most magical girl teams feature a creature that tags along and is usually responsible for giving the team their powers.
