Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
No objections. Sorting by character is more confusing than just by work name or the work's day of release.
Edited by TabsI mean, Zach Aguilar, Sean Chiplock, Keith Silverstein, Max Mittelman, Steve Blum, etcetera have them sorted by character.
Sorting by character name doesn't make much sense. I'd go with alphabetically by work name myself.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.^^Yeah, I’ve noticed most Anime V As have their entries sorted by character name. Maybe it's because people will know the character more than the work?
I’m sorry, but you have Stage 9 Animes.Honestly, I feel sorting by work name rather than character name makes searching more easier. For example, they might have voiced a character from a popular show, but the character in question might not be well known. So if the pages are sorted by character, people may skip over a specific work they're looking for by accident.
Just because some pages use the format already doesn't make it a good one. It's Fan Myopia to assume the reader is familiar with any given character on the page.
Also, what if an actor has multiple roles in a work?
^The way I’ve seen multiple roles listed is as [Role 1], [Role 2], and so on. It's not a good strategy, and I don't understand why it would even be structured that way.
I’m sorry, but you have Stage 9 Animes.I feel that their edits break the "first come first serve" rule (though I agree that the work comes first before the character). So should we revert? Because the same troper did the same to Creator.Kellen Goff.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AMost everyone seems to be in favor of a reversion, so I've gone ahead and done that.
Could you also do the same for Goff's page?
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/A^ That page is already sorted by work name. The major change they made to role sorting was to sort the examples by medium, which IMO makes sense.
The list of acting roles on Michael Kovach, which was formerly sorted alphabetically by work, was recently resorted by ~Eeker Boi 14 to be alphabetical by character instead.
There's currently no rule for how actor roles should be organized on creator pages, but the consensus in this thread, at least, seems to be a firm "no" on sorting by role.
Any objections to a reversion on the page to the previous method of sorting alphabetically by work?
