Seems to be a common trope in some media, like The Loud Housenote and Gravity Falls (and, technically, Comic Strip/Peanuts) that parents and other adults tend to be kept faceless a lot of the time. I wonder why this isn't a trope of itself, though admittedly The Faceless does somewhat cover it.
