Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

No, that is not a good edit reason.
I already sent them a notifier.
Edited by YuriHaru567 Trans rights are human rights!Edit reason is rude, but more importantly,
There is no reason to link off-site in the first place unless the wiki is the subject.
The example itself Walkthrough Mode
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup^^ UPDATE: They responded to my notifier in a very passive-aggressive PM by trying to justify it.
Edited by YuriHaru567 Trans rights are human rights! If this is a case where a wiki split off from Fandom, updating the links to point elsewhere is a good idea... but so is removing the links if they're irrelevant to the example.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.^^ That's not good at all. What should we do now?
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.^ To wait for a mod
Noting that they've made this edit as a follow-up.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThis is always morally correct.
^^ What makes the rude edit reasons and the snide doubling down in PMs worse is that they never make a case as to why these alternatives are better, or where the disdain for Fandom is even coming from other than a childish "absurd ad assault" remark (I mean, if it's just the ads, who's to say the alternatives aren't on their way to the same density?).
Edited by Akriloth2160 There's no place that you can hide/Something that's specialI'm not here to justify their actions, but I want to point out that yugioh.fandom used to be ridiculously glitchy on mobile, so I can see why they would encourage other tropers to link to Yugipedia instead. There was another discussion years ago about a troper who was making the exact same changes for similar reasons, but I can't seem to find it now.
Edit: Found it. Then again, if the link is that irrelevant to the example, I agree it should just be deleted.
Edited by TantaMontyThis year there's a mass migration from FANDOM to self-hosted wikis as a protest, but let's focus on civility issues here and if the link here is necessary.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThis seems like an agenda on their part. Would their subsequent edit be considered on edit war, since it's not exactly the same as the prior edit?
Just now realizing they technically committed an edit war as well
Also yeah, the whole Fandom wiki discourse would count as offsite drama, which is against TV Tropes policy.
Edited by YuriHaru567 Trans rights are human rights!Ah, I hadn't realized that this was taken up before I made my edit correcting their response; it appears I wasn't the only who felt rubbed the wrong way, haha.
On the uncivil conduct, I noticed that they did also in fact add the wiki link back in after I removed on the basis that it was unnecessary for the overall point (again, Walkthrough moding), which I'm pretty sure counts as edit warring.
Thanks for playing Kings Quest V!Slimeshady is suspended for edit warring
If there's consensus on phrasing and whether the wiki link is necessary, you may make the edit, citing this query.
As pointed out above, it doesn't seem necessary to include the links.
Slimeshady made this edit solely to switch links from yugioh.fandom.com to yugipedia.com, with "Ew Fandom, always link to independent wikis and save people's eyes from being seared by Fandom." as edit reason.
Is this ok?
