I think the example is fine. Nothing state that the person who makes a "The Reason You Suck" Speech has to be a good person.

I'd go so far as to say that the person giving the speech doesn't even have to be right. They could be wrong and a potential subversion would be where the victim turns the conversation around and points out how the person degrading them is responsible for the very traits that they despise.

v I rather dispute the idea that I "know best". I'm wrong fairly often, after all. My opinion shouldn't be given equal weight to when I am citing policy decisions.

It does seem to come from the misunderstanding of the trope as "character says an awesome speech about another character I hate", hence this feeling that the character making the speech has to be "right".
