Doesn't Broken Base require at least a six month long conflict between the "bases"? Something that dropped yesterday shouldn't be an example yet.

I think this is already solved (jumped the gun on Broken Base, didn’t wait six months) from what everyone has said above, but generally you can pause quests in Warframe if you are struggling. The New War, however, is a Point of No Return that outright requires you to log back into the game after completing Act 1 and needs an extra confirmation that you want to see this through.
