I don't know if there's a trope for that very thing, but it's one way to effect a Locked Room Mystery. The Key Is Behind the Lock is related.

Is there one for the classic bit where a key is on the other side of a locked door, so the character slides a piece of paper under the door, pushes the key out of the lock, and pulls it to them on the paper? Obviously it's a Lock and Key Puzzle, but one that's so well-known that it's more of a tradition than a brain-teaser.
