I always figured this thread was redundant anyway since there is another Doug Walker thread.
Disgusted, but not surprisedSo much for reforms or ousting Michaud. All it seems to accomplish is the permanent break up of the band and tarnish a lot of names in the process, but nothing much else.
For now, some times the heat may die down, but things might get brought higher than a simmer again.
Do the other ex-CA have their own threads, besides Lindsay?

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Spoony has one. That's all I got.
Linkara and Todd have one, I think Cinema Snob and Dan Olson have threads too.
Basically, by this point, it'd just be better to create a thread about any given personality people might want to talk about rather than a generic "internet reviewer discussion thread".
I'm having to learn to pay the priceIf they (CA) were concerned about the whole drama affecting them they should have laid low like what they did now.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life. For me, this controversy on Channel Awesome was really shocking, it truly damaged my enjoyment of the Nostalgia Critic, as weakened as it already was.
I met the NC a few years ago by watching his review of the Garbage Pail Kids and discovering Internet reviewing for the first time. A whole new concept for me. Soon I became fan of a lot of reviewers including him, but also the Cinema Snob, Spoony, The Blockbuster Buster, Mavel, Film Brain, etc.
I watched Kickassia and Suburban Knights and I like them, it felt like watching a group of friends having fun, it’s so sad to know that it wasn’t like that. I hasn’t seen To Boldly Flee nor I will.
Of the first group that left CA my favorite was Kyle, I always found his videos to be cultured and insightful, always learning something new when I watch them. I found Lupa kind of boring, but her reviews of old TV shows were entertaining, same with Lindsay especially her Loose Canon series, I watch them more for the information than for fun, unlike Phelous who was pretty hilarious.
I also was a fan of Spoony I think his reviews of old board games and TV movies were great, but I think he’s a prick. I know he has mental health issues but that’s not an excuse to treat people that way. And is not so much for the rape joke on Jesu Otaku that caused so much uproar, despite the fact I do think it was unapropiate. I think everything can be the subject of humor and that includes rape, if handle correctly rape humor can be used to create conscience and help people heel (in fact there’s an entire tour of rape survivor stand-up comedians for example), but I digress, point is that’s not the way it works.
The main issue here is that this mismanagements on this are really outraging, and CA’s response was even more (both but the second one more outraging than the other). It’s sad to see so many good content creators affected by it, Erod’s video leaving CA broke my heart. You should watch it. I’ve never watch Linkara but he seems to be such a good guy in the crossovers and movies, and after watching Erod’s video my opinion of him was even better.
Doug Walker is clearly tired of the NC character. He’s typecast and he hates it, he tried to kill it off, tried to move on and do other stuffs and was forced to go back to it for lack of success and money. You can see it in his reviews, it’s sad. He has change the format and now they are barely reviews anymore and he doesn’t look that invested, sometimes looks like he hates it. And worst even the fact that he doesn’t has the copyrights for the character, must be hell.
Anyway, sorry I was kind of cathartic on this. I just needed out of my chest. Thanks.
I don't know about just locking it just cause its largely over... see the countless anime threads still open about shows that haven't had an update in years and this topic tends to be the hub for talk about everybody else that isn't a major known member.
Yeah I can understand wanting it sealed so we can forget and move on.... and largely this whole ordeal has probably hit tropes the hardest seeing all the glittering shrine pages we built to various CA members
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!
The issue is a fair number of previous CA affiliated content creators would rather not still be associated with CA, which isn't the same as having a thread on - say - NGE.
At least for those contributors, having them discussed in the CA thread when they want to put their CA days behind them sounds disrespectful and doesn't do much to assuage the "TVT is a shrine to Doug Walker/CA" reputation.
Again, it might be better to have a "small time reviewer" thread that doesn't just limit itself to former CA contributors in that case.

I'm having to learn to pay the priceThe point is that Channel Awesome has a long and dense past full of things to discuss. There may still be things to discuss about it in the future, depending on how things go. As long as there's something to talk about, this thread should stay open so that people can talk about it.
These threads and these work/creator pages are not meant to glorify or commemorate people. They're not shrines or monuments. They exist to foster discussion. If you think there are tonal problems, you're free to speak up, but I really don't see anyone on this thread gushing about CA anymore.
So, what's been going on the past week? I've been on vacation.
Optimism is a duty.Honestly nothing. Finally (knock on wood, throws salt) things seem to have died down and people can move on.
I cut up one dozen new men and you will die somewhat, again and again.I suspect if anything else does happen, it will be in the long term. For better or for worse, this has hit it's logical apex. I hope that the people who have been pushing changethechannel don't see this as an entire loss.
Read my stories!I see that Guru Larry is still hanging on, too. I take it at this point it is safe to say the Snob is staying?
Optimism is a duty.It seems so, yeah. Unless they really are going to shut down the site and just focus on the Chicago crew. But even then, I think it's like Brad would still be working with the Walkers in some capacity.
Just a person. He/him.Doesn't Brad live in Chicago? He's part of the crew.
Ukrainian Red CrossNo, he lives in Springfield. Granted, that's not that far.
Just a person. He/him.I am not familiar with Larry's frequency though - how often does he upload videos?
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.At the end I think the Walkers kind of did the smart thing and just waited for the controversy to calm down. Not counting people directly involved (which I trust most of them and think they are been honest about what happened and feel they're great content creators) I think some third parties jump into the controversy mostly because they already hated Doug and Rob Walker and their work in general (being the Social Injustice Warriors one of the most obvious examples) and I guess they aren't precisely happy now. Although I think some non-directly related content creators did some very constructive and honest criticism, like Electric Dragon.
This is a pretty new field so we really have no idea how these kind of polemics would affect in the short or long run, but it seems that they did skip the bullet, CA keeps being popular and their suscriber numbers are no longer negative.
Maybe it's impossible to really really affect Channel Awesome or at least the Walkers, they're like the Disney of Internet movie reviewing. If they survive this controversy I think they can probably survive almost anything. I do hope everything goes well for the content creators that left and for the Walkers too which I don't really want to dislike. Despite that, I think the main issue is still there and I still think Doug Walker is trapped by the Nostalgia Critic character and wants to get rid of it, but can't.

I see. Now that the dust has settled, do you think the Walkers will make an official statement at some point, and maybe try to clean some of the mud off of their name?
Also, I wish I was familiar with the word "polemics" a long time ago. That's a good word for this corner of The Internet.
An open mind and compassionate heart are among the most important qualities we can have.> they're like the Disney of Internet movie reviewing.
They're about as far from that as you can get, just because they've laid low and people have stopped talking about doesn't mean it;'s completely over
New theme music also a boxI honestly suspect that if anything changes, it will be like what happened this time. Things get quiet, and then something sparks it suddenly a few years later.
Read my stories!Well glad on them. But this also means that Lindsay's eventual marriage (that just happened this past weekend) was flocked by a circle of other ex-CA creators, and Doug and Co. were never a part of it. And the days go by....
Yeah, let's lock it. Now that the fire has been put out a little and with nothing non-Doug related left to discuss, I think the thread has run its course.
