At this rate there's just going to be the critic left

I was just thinking yesterday that when Linkara walks away it's sign of the end times for that site

If Linkara and Brad both walk away, mind. Brad hasn't seemed to talk much about the drama but he's kept friendships with both the people who left and with Doug.

I see what they're doing. They aim to put Doug and Co and the absolute only show remaining on the site.

Should i go get dinner, or stay on here to see the others leave the site LIVE??

Linkara was often seen as one of the top three contributors on the site. And going by the posts, his leaving influenced the two who left (Hence the almost simultaneous announcements - though SF Debris had sent a message on Patreon earlier as a forewarning). So there's definitely a floodgate element already.

I see what they're doing. They aim to put Doug and Co and the absolute only show remaining on the site.

I don't think they aim at anything but not have to deal with the issues the site has (Or just not bother with it in SF Debris' case).

The number of people I watch who are still on the site is dwindling and dwindling. I think I can count them all on one hand. It sucks that the site has been mired by shitty business practices for years, because I still adore the content of many of their former contributors sad. Still, at least most of them are able to find ways to support themselves without too much difficulty.

They shall rename it to just nostalgiacritic . com, and have it only be the site for Doug and company's work, and they shall nevar speak of any of the other contributors ever again.

[up]x6 Brad said he wouldn't be leaving.

Kinda weird to see the people trying to guilt trip him into leaving. Like, guys, it's his decision how he does his business.

Here's my worst feelings about all this: the NC show is actually good. One of the best shows I ever seen that is online-exclusive and isn't backed by some sort of major company! And the idea of losing all that is depressing, but this can't be helped.

I don't think you'd be losing the NC even if everyone left. Doug makes enough views to sustain himself. If some of the figures that have been quoted around for the publicity income are real, he makes very good money. So the only thing that'd stop Doug from doing the NC is Doug himself.

Michaud owns the rights to the Nostalgia Critic. If something were to happen to the company he owns, Doug would lose the show.

Does Michaud own the rights? He's CEO, but that doesn't mean he owns the right, especially since Doug and Rob likely own a share of the company themselves. And CA didn't own any other producers' brand.

The cold irony is that this is pretty much the plot of Kickassia in Real Life.

The Nostalgia Critic rallies a bunch of other critics by his side to found their own micro-nation (and proceed to take over the world). These critics and contributors all eagerly join in and success establish their government with each individual contributing to the system in their own way. But soon it becomes clear they are not equals as the Critic lords over them in a rocket chair while they are stuck in a roundtable, having their ideas being credited to the Critic. Then one by one, contributors began to leave and dwindled, either through banishment or fear. Eventually, the Critic crosses a line too far and finds himself alone against an army of contributors seeking payback.

[up][up] It was said on Twitter that he owned at least partial rights.

Though in this case the Tyrant is less the Critic but Michaud. Still, there's some parallels.

[up][up] It was said on Twitter that he owned at least partial rights.

Yes, but CA is a corporation. So if CA owns the NC brand, which it likely does, a Corporation can have multiple owners. How much of the stock does Michaud own vs the Walkers.

And TBH, if the Walkers gave him the majority of their brand, they are frankly idiots for doing so.

[up][up] Well considering that Michaud owns 51% of the Critic, I wouldn't be surprised if Michaud is the really Nostalgia Critic's dark side all this time. Regardless of who is calling the shots, the Critic is the undisputed icon of Channel Awesome. Thus, he is an easy target for grievances, not helped by the fact that many of the unethical practices seemed to be echoing within the Critic himself.

Well considering that Michaud owns 51% of the Critic,

Is that percentage actually ever confirmed?

Eitherway, the point remains, even if Michaud owns the NC brand, the brand is worthless without Doug. Michaud "taking it away" would only kill its value (and his own income). So fear of losing the NC are unfounded on that end.

The only real way I'd see the NC video is if this turns into a backlash against Doug himself and people start boycotting his videos to such a degree it's no longer producing sustainable income.

The TearJerker. That Guy With The Glasses page should probably have many, if not all, examples below the index zapped. There's one with This Troper and one that discounts why Lupa left in favor of the site's diminishing returns being sad.

EDIT: The main page's first paragraphs are very out-of-date too.
