I assume you think she's swell?

I feel like I was the only one who got this joke. The Turtles are cool.

So Pixie Dream Girl has been absent from training the past two days. She gives me the impression of being a pretty flighty person. Today was my birthday so I was hoping to see her today; dunno what's going on with her.

EDIT: Oh apparently I was mistaken. I sent her a message because our training is taking place somewhere different tomorrow and apparently she didn't have bus money to make it to work because our transport plan hasn't been settled yet. :v

So, just got back from an anime convention (Kami-Con in Birmingham, Alabama, for the curious), and it was awesome. A bit of a drive to get there, but otherwise a kickass con.The two other pals of mine I usually go to cons with were present, and I got to see one of my best friends for the first time in a couple of months. He goes to college in Alabama, so I haven't seen him since his semester started.

Our fourth party member was his sister, and this was her first con experience. Cue me spending a lot of time with her that weekend in a close and friendly manner. All the while almost tricking myself into believing there were hints of romantic attraction on her part, such as: an overabundance of sudden eye contact, tending to smile at each other in humorous situations, and generally causing each other an excess of laughter. Also, there's the thing about me having had a crush on her for like a year, and one that seems to become worse the more amazing she proves herself to be.

She turned me down a year ago, though. We've been good friends for months now, and so unless she drops some ridiculously obvious tip that she has changed her mind, I can do nothing but dream. The really annoying aspect of this, is the line between "we're becoming closer friends, and that's awesome", and "we seem to be growing closer in other ways, maybe" is incredibly blurry to me, since I am not an observer looking in.

So I mentioned something about having problems with OCD and my girlfriend suddenly stopped talking to me with no explanation and i haven't heard from her since.

I doubt it's intentional, but..... it would have been nice to have some support from her.

Well. Obviously you need to be high when you go out to coffee with her, too otherwise it'll all come crumbling down.

[up][up][up][up][up][up] Tides change. I don't know anyone who doesn't change their opinions after some time, I'm glad it worked out for you man :).

On an unrelated note;I had quite the scare when I read at artofmanlinesss the article on the harm of porn use...which I limited to fiction sourced only and have now purged my computer of and kicked as use, no more artificial for me. Since the kicker was losing testosterone and how it's mental junk food...and I hate junk food. sad I estimate than at the 20 day mark I will start checking out the ladies, however I live in a small town that only has restaurants, the occasional traveling circus or traveling amusement park and the cinema. There are no entertainment spots, except billiards but most of the bars that offer it smell like old piss. I used to date my ex by going to eat at hotels with her and we had good times back then. So, any other date ideas? Or does what I have in town suffice? smile

... What on earth are you even talking about?

The only harm in using porn is that you risk inadvertently supporting an industry that frequently mistreats its employees and perpetuates horrible stereotypes about sex and sexuality. Anything about "losing testosterone" or whatever the hell it is you read is bullshit.

[up][up] Alright, there's the testosterone thing I mentioned but the main issue is how I easily spent my noon enjoying porn. I value having time for healthy sleep and it caused me more than one irregular sleep night due to repeating at night. So, is my town fine with places for dates? I think so myself but I would like to know what else I could do. There are nightclubs of course, but dates don't really happen at nightclubs, you hardly speak in one due to the WUV WUV from the music speakers.

I only said that it was a risk, not that it's a problem with all porn. Just... the majority of it. You kind of have to search to find the stuff that isn't made by scumbags.

[up] I mean... your town definitely sounds like it has a lot of stuff to do. I'm not sure how good any of those places are, but...

[up] No problems man smile. Yeah, the date places work just fine then, goood grin. Next stop for me is building actual conversation skills. I speak fiction just fine but more real life stuff like news and sports is tough for me. I think about learning football stuff since it's quite popular in my town. And I'll have to read the news too, I'm sure it won't be too bad if I skip the trash and speculation bits. I'll also have to develop a defined music taste, even I, who have none have been turned off when I heard a person say they don't have a preference in music. tongue

So i had a mad idea.

Being in Student Government, i have some responsibilities for organizing the Spring Gala, which at the moment involves me creating the event on our Event Brite account, the linked event is presently private, and I am the only ticketholder.

Pursuant to this, i could forward Her the link, a bold and direct ask-out, as it would almost be like asking her out to a private event, an ask from me, to her, to an event only i'm going to for the moment.

Highly unlikely to work, though i've got little to lose at this point as long as i don't get creepy (or visibly so, done some stuff i'm not proud of in this, but it's *still* better than my conduct last time around...)

@Odd1: No, I didn't know that song. Now that I've heard it, I don't think I'm a fan, either. Musically, they sound like a mediocre Beach Boys knock-off, and the lyrics are just... strangely apathetic (especially the "et cetera") [lol]

@Ogodei: Go for it. It doesn't sound all that risky to me, to be honest – I assume she knows there will be more people at the Spring Gala eventually, so this would be more of a symbolic thing. A special, early "VIP" invitation, if you will. If you frame it right she might see it as a sweet and/or funny gesture.

@The whole alcohol discussion: My taste is mostly limited to beer, red wine, whisky, and sometimes brandy (such as Poire Williams). Regarding whisky, my thoughts can be summed up as "Scotch whisky – only whisky" and "Laphroaig whisky – best whisky".

I sometimes drink gin as well, but that's more for I Need a Freaking Drink situations; I don't really like the taste all that much.

I dislike mixed drinks – if you're going to drink spirits, drink them pure. (I make an exception for party/festival situations where I'm already drunk anyway.) tongue

Oh no, far from it. A true Dutchman is a stingy little Calvinist who would balk at the decadence of drinking an entire bottle of wine by yourself. I'm a bit... inconsistent in that regard. tongue

The déjà-vus my current (and hopefully long-lasting) girlfriend brings along are uncanny, to say the least, but they're also awesome. As mentioned before, I constantly learn shit that helps me fill in gaps from my previous failed relationship (which was a rather important turning point in my recent life), and in turn lets me solve immediate conflicts with relative ease.

Also, I raise you this one, when it comes to refined musical taste [lol] :

Thanks for the music Midnight Rambler. I've always found metal relaxing, much more relaxing than piano music that gets quite high pitched after some time. I say I like jazz when asked about my music taste, but jazz is tough to define so I feel I am saying anything in a classy waytongue.

I feel like the odd one out in my family. Everyone who can drink is a happy drinker save me, who dislikes alcohol and doesn't want to get drunk out of caution.

I hope I can rid myself of the warts in my hands this month with that acid medicine I'm applying. If only because they are at the sides and clearly rub when giving a handshake sad.

Would an embroidered black-and-red paisley tie with some subtle white accents (just enough to give it some contrast) look good with a black pinstriped three-piece, and a white shirt? The shirt has some very subtle stripes in the texture of the weave, but the fabric itself is all white.

Although... the color scheme might be more suited (lol) to a power suit than to a night at the symphony. Hrm. Maybe I should go with the simpler, darker suit.

But two of the friends I'm going with have never seen my pinstripe suit, so I want to wear that one if I can decide on what to wear with it.
