I had Tharja and Virion, along with Cherche and Gregor- which I still say has the most character hook going for it.

I married Gregor to Cherche myself, and I was pleasantly surprised by the unexpectedly shared backstory.

Libra and Cherche's C to A supports don't really have anything going for it, but I like their S support because it reminded me of one of my high school English assignments.

Their romantic banter was surprisingly reminiscent of Holes.

I like their S Support simply because Minerva plays matchmaker.

Libra might also be one of my favorite 1st Gen units. He has a lot of interesting supports.

Speaking of Cherche, looking at her supports, is she meant to be only a little over 19? Because her support with Donnel says she tamed Minerva at 9, and her support with Vaike says she and Minerva have been together for over 10 years.

I mean, granted, "over 10" could be pretty long, but if it were 15 or some other milestone you'd think she'd say that instead of 10. She seemed more like a mid-20's than late teens person to me.

Since most people do go by fives for things like that, she should be anywhere between 20 (over 10) and 23.

Considering Lucina's future is "more than ten years hence" from the main story's present, and she's OBVIOUSLY in her late teens, I'd say that all this proves is that Cherche has been with Minerva for at least ten years but not yet twenty.

Most of the characters in Fire Emblem are a lot younger than you'd expect.

Jaffar, the angel of death, was only 17.

And Lyn's actually 15!

In Japan. I think she was 17 in the localization.

She was 18 in the English version. Older than Eliwood and Hector, actually.

I find that Japanese media tends to make its characters stupidly young in general. For the sake of my sanity, I tend to mentally add about five years to everyone's age whenever the subject comes up. For example, Emmeryn's supposed to be about 25, which makes Chrom roughly 20, and Lissa only 15. Needless to say, I think 30, 25, and 20 respectively works much better.

I'd always thought that Jaffar/Nino was weird. I'd ascribed them mid-twenties and about thirteen, respectively.

In the interest of fairness, actual children very rarely show up in a combat role in this series- I think, off the top of my head, the youngest playable character so far has been Rolf or Fa, depending on how old Fa was in Manakete time. *slightly forgetful*

A lot of it can easily be explained that Japan has a lower age of consent than Western countries. I think it's 13? Could be remembering wrong.

Well if we're talking manakete time, wouldn't Nah be the youngest? She's only around her mid teens like the other second generation units, so that would make her quite young by manakete standards (hence some of her barracks lines).

It only goes that low in a small handful of prefectures, though it is true the median age of consent is something more like 16.

Ah, fair enough.

Then again, Immortality Begins at Twenty, so maybe the first fifteen years aren't all that different for Manaketes.

I liked Stahl and Miriel's supports way more than I expected to. Might just be my favorite Miriel pairing.

For most immortals, yes. But in the case of manaketes, immortality begins at eleven.

Four years is not much of an age difference.

age difference is always one of those things that doesnt seem problematic unless the age difference means one person is under the age of the consent and the other over it.

id say the bigger problem with nino jaffar is that one feels too young to enter a pairing and the other feels so emotionally stunted that he probably counts as mentally younger than nino.

its just a weird pairing.

Nah does say she's psychologically younger than the other kids her age, due to being a manakete. But yay, marriage!

I like to think that if Nino were to be in a relationship with anyone other than Jaffar, it would involve much hugging for a long while before ever moving on to anything further.

re: Miriel, I paired her with Fredrick and thought it worked quite well, actually. She's got the OCD intellectual curiosity thing going on, and he's dedicated and patient enough to not only deal with it, but actually enjoy her focus.
