Sweet, I suspected it might just be a kit.
Oh really when? Some things to note. They are opening up a request for companies interested in supplying the rifle, current acquisition numbers are about 11,000 for infantry only due to cost. That could change if the cost per rifle goes down.
What this means is that if HK wants that filthy lucre they may have to be more willing to license the weapons to other manufacturers or they could possibly lose out to a competitor making a weapon that is basically the same but cheaper.
Who watches the watchmen?Looks like a job for the FN Herstal.
Inter arma enim silent leges^^ Which is funny because HK 433 is basically HK 416/M27 but cheaper and with some improvements.
Mostly a stock that actually folds instead of awkwardness owing to AR buffer tube, G3 style charging handle and some other things.
Of course given how they are all but blatantly ripping off the MSBS, ACR and SCAR....
Tom: How much is the HK 433? The current M 27 is about 3 K per rifle but it is also suffering a little bit from still generally small production runs.
The USMC also has a requirement for all the rail mounted kit being compatible.

Who watches the watchmen? And I doubt the USMC will go so far off the reservation to get a rifle so unlike the M-16/M-4 platform. With the M-27, it's a hard sell but they can point out that the training and manual of arms do not need any major changes.
Some speculate that the Corps may be trying to break from the M-249. The 249 is heavy and never really replaced the BAR or M-60.
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48I mean, you could have replaced the BAR with a smoothbore black powder musket and it would probably have been an improvement.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Oh come on, the BAR wasn't as bad as all that. Sure it wasn't perfect, but its detractors would have you believe that a wooden club would be a better combat weapon, which simply isn't true. It was certainly better than the Chauchat, and even that wasn't quite as horribly terribly awful as it's been made out to be...

This Space Intentionally Left Blank.Taira: The odd thing about that is that the USMC keeps and still actively deploys the M-249 alongside the M-27 and have showed more interest in LSAT for actually possibly replacing the SAW. The downside is the USMC was backing the caseless option rather than the CTA stuff. The Caseless seems to have foundered on the problem of propellant block fragility and exposure. They solved cook off and propellant issues and shape issues, and even the dual stage ignition is working. Those other issues though seem to have stopped it cold. Some are suggesting a hybrid approach where a combustible CTA style case is used but that has other issues such as increased fouling and reduction in propellant mass.
The interest in the M 27 as a replacement goes back years and Tam more or less called it first for our site. Especially given how it was being deployed. The US Marines are also serious about a DMR version because of persistent and consistent reports of 800m point target shots with 5.56mm ammo.
Who watches the watchmen? On the M-27, yeah, I did call it, didn't I? Thanks Tuff! Somewhere near the first 150 pages or so of this thread in fact. We'll have to see how far down the rabbit hole the Corps manages to get away with before the Do D catches on to what they're up to.
I'm not sure how much the 433 is but the story goes is that it was made because the Germans wanted to replacement their stock of useless G36s with 416s but they were too expensive.
Oh really when?Who knows. This is the first serious effort by the Corps in a while to move even partly away from the M-16.
Who watches the watchmen? No price details yet but my guess says less than 3K but more than 1K. Because HK 416 is too expensive for Bundeswehr but 433 is cheap enough to be considered.
It's no AK or M16 in the price department probably.

I don't doubt the memetic reliability of Glocks, I just think they're distastefully ugly. If I'm gonna own something worth a grand or more, it's gonna please my sense of aesthetics.
