Could be. Maybe he'd be the first to become possessed by... whatever's creating all these freaky chimeras.
On the other hand, there was this great theory I read on the Toon Zone forums about why Oswald would have a good reason to try and kill Mickey. Oswald was one of the first characters Disney made, helping it to become the icon it is today, yet Mickey comes and takes it all from him. Oswald wants his old glory back, and he believes eliminating Mickey would do that.
He and The Phantom Blot could be a Big Bad Diumvirate, with The Phantom Blot being re-tooled into an Eldritch Abomination capable of corrupting Mickey's friends.
What you lack is tropality, and that is what I shall provide you with! That's a...strange interpretation of the history of Walt Disney's earliest animated characters. I guess since Oswald practically is Mickey—the previous iteration of him, basically—it's hard for me to imagine the two being much at odds.
I wonder if Julius the Cat will make an appearance?
Stuff what I do.Or the Horned King? They wouldn't even need to change his design to make him fit in!
What you lack is tropality, and that is what I shall provide you with!Oswald would be The Rival and a Mirror Boss. The big bad would be the King of all Disney Nightmare Fuel himself, Chernabog.
Or Walt Disney's De-Frozen head in a new cyborg body, calling himself "Yensid".
Holy...
There are some things that look far, FAR too awesome to be real. And, it's going to be made by Warren Spector? DEUS EX warren spector?
Nobody pinch me. I don't want to stop dreaming.
Yeah, Oswald has motives, being the Discarded Prototype when Mickey was created. Maybe, after being thrown off to the land of rejected scripts, he created a parallell world, mimicking Walt Disney's canon with his own versions of Goofy (which we have already seen), other characters, Disney Castle, etc.
Or maybe the game is going to be based around all the character's discarded drafts and previous versions that didn't make it to the final cut. It would be neat to get to see Chernabog's more terrifying version that was "toned down" for Fantasia...
Maybe Chernabog would be the One-Winged Angel version of the Phantom Blot and the "hardcore" version of his design would be the phase 2 of the fight.
They could make Chernabog a Rail Shooter-like boss on the Space Mountain ride!
Makes me wonder, is this taking place in Disney World, or Disney Land?
What you lack is tropality, and that is what I shall provide you with! That would be great, The Adversary! Would beat and stomp on the first Kingdom Heart's final world.
Mmmm... it's difficult to know if it could be Disney Land or Disney World. From the concept art, there seems to be 2 different locations. A Noir-styled cityscape and a Steampunk land.
Plus, there seems to be 2 different versions of Disney Castle: The one we see in the background of the steampunk scenery and the black-and white, thorn ridden that drops black ink. But that could be just different versions of the same place... or not? Looking at the concept art featuring Monstro, it seems to be 2 different "factions" at war: Old-styled black and white toons vs. colored ones. That would explain the Mickey Mouse Paint Thinner being portrayed as a weapon.

Or maybe they are just two different concepts and we will only see one of them in the final game.
Still, what catches y attention the most is that "modern" toons seem to be animatronic robots like Itchy and Scratchy in that Simpson's episode while the older, black-and-white cartoons seem to be the real thing. why would they need paint thinner if one of the factions is not a real cartoon anyways?
Also, if you watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit, just ponder about the possible ramifications of that gigantic vat of paint thinner sitting in there...
Yes, I was thinking on... those implications.
Good point. All the "new" characters seem to be mechanical abominations (Monstro, Goofy, the Mickey-bot) more than "real" cartoons. And are portrayed in a less sympathetic way.
Picture 19 seems like an opening storyboard, which comes to reinforce the theory on a "Land of Discarded Drafts". Man, the more I see these concept art, the more I feel I need to get this game...
@The Adversary: Now that you mention it, all of the freaky robot creatures seem to be based off of colored Disney characters. The one picture that shows the black-and-white characters is the beach setting with the Seven Dwarves robots emerging from the sea. Maybe that's part of the opening?
Those Death creatures with the glove staffs make me think they're disciples of the Phantom Blot, especially since they seem to be made out of ink...

What you lack is tropality, and that is what I shall provide you with! One of the pictures has the Epcot dome in the background, broken open. That speaks for Disney World.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.@The Adversary,
Walt Disney's Brain would be the best boss ever! I hope that gets into the game.

This game looks like all kinds of awesome. I'm really liking the ideas you guys are throwing out too.
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.I'm seeing elements of both Anaheim and Orlando in the concept art. We have Spaceship Earth from Epcot, and the castle also looks more like Florida's, but the teacup designs in the beach landing scene are from Disneyland, and the Tomorrowland scene includes the Moonliner and Clock of the World from the original version of Disneyland's Tomorrowland.
Stuff what I do.This is going to be the most freakin' epic game ever made. AWESOME.
The game won't be epic unless they play "It's a small world after all" in the most disturbing location possible. If you fight Original Generation enemies on that location it's even better. After all, what made the ride Nightmare Fuel incarnate was that seeing no Disney characters in it while riding on a boat that you had no way of escaping from to strange, foreign places made the ride seem so... Godless.
Or, better yet, have a hellish robot chase you through the It's A Small World ride while having the song constantly playing.
What you lack is tropality, and that is what I shall provide you with! The song would be better off as a tension builder. While a chase scene to it's a small world after all has its own charm, imagine it being played while you are being actively hunted through a large map, like a combination of Metal Gear Solid 3's The End and Metroid Fusion's SA-X. You don't know when or where you are going to be killed, but you can still feel it. Someone or something is out there.
Lurking. Watching. Hunting.
It's a world of laughter A world of tears It's a world of hopes And a world of fears

Perhaps the music would change as this creature approaches? It could grow louder, more distorted... maybe even cut out right before it attacks you.
Making the rides and attractions mazes for enemies to hunt you in would be perfect. A level taking place in the Haunted Mansion could be really freaky...
What you lack is tropality, and that is what I shall provide you with! From the WDW angle, there's also the entire Utilidors complex.
Stuff what I do.Other awesome ideas for a boss fight:
Splash Mountain: Fought in free fall.
Matterhorn: Yeti. That is all.
Any waterway ever: They bring back Steamboat-era Mickey and you have to fight yourself.

Not "any waterway ever." The river in Frontierland, which has a steamboat ride on it.
Stuff what I do.
I saw a reference somewhere to the Phantom Blot being the Big Bad. I think it would be cooler if Oswald were the Obi Wan.
Stuff what I do.
