The first game had the Blunderbuss.
As a hidden secret weapon...and I always assumed it was supposed to be those old "fire a cork with air pressure" blunderbuss...either way, it fits. Maybe even a very primitive flintlock would fit.
Machine gun? Not so much.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Wow. Now THAT'S SOME ART DIRECTION.
I played the original game and had mixed feelings over the sequel not showing any gameplay but now? Day one purchase.
Kanaya, it's hard. Being a kid growing up. It's hard and no one understands.I don't think it's an actual machine gun. I'm analyzing the footage, and while it sounds like one and works like one, we can't actually see what it is Alice is wielding. The best I can make out is that she's apparently turning a crank on it.
Anyway, I really, really like the looks of this.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"Not just for Pc this time? Sweet! Here's hoping it comes out on the Nintendo consoles and iOS too.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DFrom Eurogamer:
An interesting tidbit about Alice: Madness Returns is levels do not begin in Wonderland. You start off in London and control Alice as a regular girl. Stages, or "realms" as Spicy Horse call them, morph into Wonderland as you explore them. Look carefully and you can still see elements of London within the madness, so to speak.
The reason for the transition is Alice sinks into fantasy when she can’t deal with the real world. In London, Alice has no special powers, but in Wonderland she becomes a superhero of sorts. This is Alice’s way of facing her demons and eventually discovering the reason behind her family’s death.
Another tidbit – Alice begins the game totally unarmed. She has to find the Vorpal Blade in the first level.
Jonah FalconGod fucking dammit, that teaser had the one damn thing that instills in me sheer terror - some form of teeth falling out/removal/general horror.
Visually the game looks freaking awesome. I liked the first one, so I'll probably getting this because it looks like it could be superior.
If I were to get it I'd wait until I could ask someone who completed the game if there was in fact teeth removal kind of stuff in it, as I cannot stress how much that friggin terrifies me.
Well crud, this thread already existed, even though I searched for it. TV Tropes needs a better search function.
Here is the post from the thread I erroneously created:
It contains Third Person Platforming, all that Goth/Lolita/Victorian type stuff, female main character, and it looks fun/beautiful. I have a little bit of a bias against Electronic Arts, but oh well.
And yeah, I'll be getting the PC version of this game, as usual. If a game I actually like actually gets released for the PC, I prefer that vastly over the console version. The only reason I still buy consoles is that they get all the best exclusives(Miyamoto, Namco Tales Studio, ect.). But y'all have already heard about that elsewhere. I've got it on my wish-list, and I'm tempted to have it on pre-order.
My cousin had the first game, the game cover was burned into my mind for years to come. I never played it myself to this day, but I'm kinda tempted now.
"Liar liar on the wall, give the world to me..."I'm fairly sure I remember the original also starting you off unarmed, and having to pick up the vorpal blade. Of course, there weren't any enemies in the area before you got the blade, and it was bright glowing and pointed out by an emaciated feline with possibly the most fitting voice for the role ever.
I have no idea what to make of this new "sequel." It's essentially retconning her original recovery out of existence. And for what? Yes, the art looks nice, but the story already had a happy ending. She faced her fears, her self-loathing, and her denial, and triumphed over all of them. Wonderland wasn't a fantasy world she was fighting through, it was a thin veneer over the real world problems she faced every day.
And she left the asylum when the game ended. She won.
If this is a remake, I can understand. I can't entirely like it, as remakes are something I generally take issue with, but I can understand. If it's a sequel, it's robbing Alice's character of her victory, and that just seems pointlessly cruel.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit. The first game seriously needs to be reissued.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Ooh, still waiting to get this one! Maybe next week, when I have more time to play. Looks good. Can't wait to shoot and cut more cards and other creepy crawlies!
Please don't feed the trolls!According to Wikipedia, when Alice: Madness Returns hits shelves, American McGee's Alice will be released in the PSN and XBox 360 stores for about $10. Not sure how true this next piece of info is, but if you buy a new copy of Madness Returns for the console (not sure about PC version), you'll get a code to enter into your respective console store to get American McGee's Alice for free.
This game looks fantastic, and though I can agree that it just seems that McGee is milking this for all it's worth (which says something about the quality of the first game, given all the hype over this one), I'm still pre-ordering this one.
There's one thing I don't understand though. Throughout all the information given by the company, and all the interviews, there's constant talk about the mysterious origins of the fire that killed Alice's parents. How in the world is this a mystery? American McGee's Alice starts with Alice asleep, dreaming in Wonderland. Her cat, Dinah, knocks over some books, which dominos into a oil lamp, breaking near a fireplace and catching on fire. Hell, there's not even a need for spoiler tags here, as it happens in the first cutscene of the game!
I can already tell that Madness Returns is going to be Retconing a lot of material and story built up in the first game, but for now, I just gotta' wait and see how it plays out.
I would've thought that Oz would've been his next project, as he released pictures and screenshot teasers of an American McGee's Oz shortly after releasing Alice.

I'll admit that it is a bit on the cruel seeming side.
Though that's a lot of excuses to make another video game in general. It's not really that bad overall, in my opinion. A bit tragic, but not too bad.
Genkidama for Japan, even if you don't have money, you can help![1]WHOO!!
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Alice's hair moves really nicely, I'll say it.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThe soundtrack's out on iTunes (not sure if it's been released in stores yet or not; I haven't checked), and it sounds amazing. Sadly, Chris Vrenna only has one track on the album, and I personally think it's the best one on there. The others are done (mostly) by someone else; the name escapes me for the moment, and I can't recall it.
Reading around a bit, and the game has gotten some pretty bad reviews, sadly peaking at about a scale of 7/10 everywhere. Won't stop me though; Dante's Inferno may have been an Expy of God Of War, but it was still fantastically terrifying (save for the end; shame on you design team).
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Seems like a game that the music of Emilie Autumn would be well-suited for.
Jesus H Christ, did I make the mistake of watching the trailer this late at night. I'm gonna have nightmares for certain.
"The first game seriously needs to be reissued."
It's free with new purchases (comes with a code.)
Jonah FalconFuck the reviews. I'm LOVING this game so far. It brings back fond memories of old PSX platformers like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot.
Anyone know when it's released in Oz, or where I could get a good torrent of it?
Life's Gonna Suck When You Grow Up... But Is It That Great Now?... Also I'm Skylark2 now.
Looks nice....but why is Alice using a machine gun?
She's supposed to use innocent looking toys like jacks and jack-in-the boxes to murder her enemies.
