Ridonculous Race is on now, fyi. Episodes one and two for today, and one new episode every weekday afterwards.

I've already seen this first four episodes (couldn't help it, heh heh), and I was wrong, someone does get eliminated in Morocco.

Total Drama is back, with a WHOLE new set of stereoty-I MEAN teams!

The best friends with bull-crap romantic sub-text

The couple whose schtick is making out, because we've NEVER seen anyone do that on Total Drama before.

The science nerds who only talk of science and NOTHING ELSE!

Asian Amy and Samey.

The silent goth joke that stopped being funny in the early 2000s.

The bickering step-brothers who will bond and bla bla bla.

The Cody twins...seriously they're both pretty much Cody.

The head Mean Girl and her mom.

Chevy Chase and grumpy TJ Dettweiler.

Those funny guys from the last few seasons.

Geof and other Geof!

Fashion cliches.

Overzealous ice skater cliches!

Unfit skinny woman, and incredibly fit heavy-set woman.

Unfunny hippy jokes.

Rival retired tennis stars who are probably the most original characters on this show.

Unfunny rocker jokes!

And Leonard the Larper and girl Leonard the Larper, both as insulting towards geek culture as the other!

All the while hosted by non-snarky Chris and no Chef equivalent.

[up]I'm guessing you don't like the teams.

Tbh, probably should have expected the LAR Pers to leave first, but I always thought it was the Vegans for some reason.

[up]I like some of them, but a VAST majority of them are cliches and stereotypes. Also I miss Chris, he was such a sassy bitch!

There was NO doubt in my mind that the larpers would lose first. I knew the vegans weren't going to lose because one of them bonded with one of the science nerds, and not grumpy TJ because he felt in-SANE-ly reminiscent of Gwen.

[up] They just need time to develop. I mean, when TDI aired, everyone was a cliché, and now... well, some are still clichés, but they grew on you, just like these will in some way.

But for right now, yeah, can't really blame you.

Wait, which team is the Chevy Chase and TJ?

Pretty much every team looked pretty good in the first two episodes. I'm looking forward to this season.

[up][up] It probably was, sorry. I just almost always see Dwayne Jr. referred to as a young Justin Bieber. I mean, Dwayne even says the family motto is "Never say never!"

Hey, are we going to set up the Ridonculous Race moments of Funny/Awesome/Heartwarming on the same page as the rest, or are we going to have a separate page for them?

I liked the first two episodes. I am liking the father/son team a lot because the dad is literally a sitcom dad and I love me some sitcoms. And I like the police cadets too. Wish that instead of the larpers we could have gotten a chris/chef team. with them being badly disgused and trying to hijack the show.

A pity that they gave Leonard the LAR Per a second chance, but he got the boot just as swiftly as last time.

I really wish the hippy girls were the first ones to get kicked off. A lot of the pairs were cringe-worthy but they were by far the most annoying to me.

I like Geoff and his friend the most. I know that's their thing, but they are just really easy to like.

So I've watched the first two episodes yesterday and all I can say is that they took a lot of the fun out of the show. It needs an mildly sociopathic host, not an generic one.

[up]THANK YOU, plus he just doesn't have HALF the charisma Chris had.

Also- REALLY?! The Tennis pros are out all-ready? THEY WERE THE BEST ONES- next Owen and Noah who now that I look at them are basically Chris Farley and David Spade in teenaged form.

I don't know it's kinda nice having normal challenges for once, and don has been getting some good lines in from time to time.

Finally got around to watching the first four episodes, and so far it is off to a good start.

Episode 1 & 2: Introduction to the team (who are of course stereotypes of something, otherwise we won't have an interesting show to begin with as long as they are not annoying to the point I want them dead.

Already establish some things in the show about some of the newcomers arcs like Carrie wanting to be out of the friend zone with Devin who she has an Isabella crush on. The internal conflict between the two asian sisters, where the serious Court-er I mean Emma does not take her fun loving sisters Lind-shit I mean Kitty seriously even when at some moments she is right. The Ice Dancers' (who reminds me of the main antagonist of Blades of Glory) determination in being first in every competition (that Josee girl really scare me and yet strangely turns me on). The Fashion Bloggers not giving a shit for the competition and caring about fabulous they look, they are my second choice to win just for being the clear long shots in this competition. Dwayne attempt at connecting with his son which makes me think of Goofy and Max in terms of their personality, I think they will win this season. The rest are either amusing (The Cadets, Mom and Daughter, Reality TV Pros, The Goths), annoying (Tennis Rivals, Adversity Twins, Daters) or just wouldn't give the fuck if they were dead or raped (Larpers and Step Brothers).

Thankfully in the end, the Larpers are gone for being an even worse stereotype joke then Gravity Falls attempt at making fun of them. Now it is a moment of time for the other teams that annoy me to follow suit. Also the Best Friends finish first, which means by Total Drama tradition they are the team that will most likely be in the finals, so no need to worry about them getting kicked off early.

Episode 3: They are in Paris, thus making this season World Tour but better. The Cadets are looking to have an intense competitive rivalry with the Ice Dancers similar to Brick and Jo. The Tennis Rivals are kicked off for way too many age jokes about old age (nevermind Dwayne and Kelly who are also old, but did pretty well). Hope the Step Brothers are next for being stupid assholes with no redeeming value (save for that one off joke when they talk to their parents about getting a divorce).

Episode 4: They are now in Morocco, thus making this the Beach Episode minus the swimsuits. Seems like Max Biebwiller (seriously, I just now see the TJ appearacnce similarity in Dwayne Jr.) has a Ferb or maybe Dipper crush on Carrie thus making him the Cody of this season. Anyway shit happens with the teams handling the sharks and sand castle building but eventually it is the Genius who get kicked off for idiotically spend time making plans as to how to create their sand castle in a competition where time is against them (seriously, that is worse then the Larpers who stop to cheat with their imaginary magic). Even the step brothers who shouldn't win manage to put their differences aside (okay not aside just maybe in small moderation) to actually get shit done. So yeah, they won't be missed.

So overall not a bad start so far.

I like it so far though I thought Noah was OOC in the second episode. That strategy was not tactically sound. It seemed more like a mistake a less cynical smartie would make (such as Alejandro). It didn't get them eliminated but it still annoyed me that he assumed a) Owen would be for sure the one to eat it (which turned out to be true but could easily not have) and b) that not being picky would equal not being hindered (which turned out to be false).

Aside from that, I'm really happy to see those two again and my faves among the newbies are the cops. Though I also liked the retired tennis players. We Hardly Knew Ye.

Also, do the twins remind anyone else of Eugene Horowitz both device and design-wise?

[up] Design and character wise, they are alike in a lot of ways. But personality wise they are different characters what with Eugene being more optimistic than those two, who always seem to worry about any potential injury they might get.

[up][up][up] Agree on the larpers, they were terrible. At least in Gravity Falls they weren't so much mocking larping, but people with nerdy obsessions who mock others with nerdy obsessions.

[up][up] Agreed, they were like the Tappet brothers of Total Drama!

[up][up][up][up] I skimmed the post before, but I also noticed a similarity of Dwayne and Junior to Goofy and Max, although Goofy actually seems less oblivious somehow.

Outside of Don being a poor man's Chris, this show is looking up to be one of the stronger seasons.

Episode 5 Thoughts:

So far a lot of characters are fleshed out in this episode. At this point I am going to refer the Goths, Crimson and Ennui, as Maud and Jotaro for being characters who don't express emotions normally (especially we Don attempts at getting them to feel fail). Emma and Taylor are huge idiots for not appreciating their family member's huge hand in winning the challenge (the former for disregarding her younger sister as the useless member and the latter for treating her mother as dead weight even though she is doing most of the work).

What I am amazed with this is the show manage to give characters who annoy me, dare I say it even for a series like this, Character Development. Like the Step Brothers are actually moving beyond their relationship one another from being a Miser Brothers conflict into a Blood Gluch Crew conflict, where in one small instance they almost high five. And the Daters are slowly moving away from that generic lovers cliche Fresh TV loves to use, by having Stephanie being the Alpha in the relation (man, bitch be cray-cray yo).

Meanwhile this whole episode has been a huge Humiliation Conga for the Vegans as not only did they lost Our Great Lord Helix to Chevy Chase and his son Justin Bieber but they have to give up their principle of not eating meat just to stay in. Sucks that in the end there was no elimination to begin with, which, just like the fanbase, pissed off Laurie leading her to go all CJ Parker on Don for such bullshit.

Can't wait to see the next episode to see what happens next.

Did anyone else feel bad for Rock this episode? The guy basically had to run the whole leg by himself because Spud was too busy listening to music to try to help.

[up]He pointed out that was more or less how things have always been. Spud is not good at anything other then Rocking. So Rock said he would carry him.

Also in a fun little tidbit. The adversity twins have come in 12th every leg so far.
