When do you update, Cathari?

Tabbune: I update whenever I manage to finish writing everyone's post. Depending on how busy my schedule is or how distracted I get in real life, this can take a few days. Because of this, I do not have a 100% consistent update schedule. As I have college and stuff, I try to aim at completing around 3 posts per day, though this can take longer depending on the complexity of the information I have to relay in each person's post. Expect to see the actual turn sometime this afternoon, as I only have Brahian and Jondanger's posts left to write, and they should be on the simple end of things.

Turn 49

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

TheSpacePhantom: (2) You begin looking around sticks to poke the grass with. You look around for several minutes, but there doesn’t seem to be any sticks in the area. You could probably just feel around the strange grass with your own hands, but you don’t feel like touching it at the moment. When you get close to it, a decent amount of it looks like it was uprooted recently. From the looks of things, there doesn’t seem to be any soil underneath this grass as well.
Tabbune: (3) With the proper incantation, hand motions, and focus of mind, you begin to summon your familiar. As you have not specified what your familiar was, your familiar is now a doge wolf. A circle appears on the ground a few feet in front of you and begins shining greenish light. Your wolf familiar rises out from it and then turns to face one of the crossbow-wielding skeletons. Meanwhile, one of the crossbow skeletons across the street fires at you, but you jump out of the way to dodge it. However, one standing to your left shoots as well, striking you right in the upper part of your left arm. One farther off to the right begins moving into the street, overlooking the rest of the town. The last skeletal crossbowman shoots at the doge, hitting right into its side. Your doge tumbles over from the strike, but slowly gets back up. Meanwhile, the hammer-wielding skeleton moves over to your familiar while the axeman hobbles right next to you, ready to attack.
Rivux: (6) As you try to get up, You raise your hand to plead the mage to stop. You then begin explaining that you also wished to raid the wagon and that you wish to help. The mage says, "Shit. Well, if you’re going to help us out, you might as well…" As the mage speaks, something akin to a decently sized rock smashes against the side of your face. The blast smashes you into the stream once more, and your face feels unusually cold. A fairly large block of ice now covers your mouth up to your right cheek, and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be falling off on its own any time soon. "What the? They should be…" Shortly after the mage begins to speak, you see a frost bolt shoot straight towards the mage’s left leg. Once the spell connects, his leg is thrown slightly back and after about a second, an icy shell forms around the leg, freezing some of the water underneath him and rooting him in place. "Fucking Hell!" In the meantime, the rest of the bandits seem to be struggling to close in on the driver, but the escort doesn’t seem to have much trouble holding them back.
Jondanger 23: (6) You begin walking across the bridge. Despite initial fears of the bridge possibly collapsing, it stays intact with almost no signs of breaking. However, shortly after you begin walking on the path, two cougars appear from behind large stones flanking the bridge. They begin circling you, and one of them cuts you off from going back across the bridge.
BRaHiAn1: (2,5,2,4) Dragonborn are draconic/reptilian humanoids; though they have the same human body shape and size, they do not look human. They also don’t have wings, at least not in this campaign. Kobolds would be considered shorter versions of dragonborn, to put things in perspective. Also I decided to multiroll since you specified multiple attack types. For your first attack, you launch a fireball at the winged humanoids. As you didn’t really try aiming it, it completely misses the flying laguz. Not wasting any time, you follow up that attack with an ice blast, taking care to aim at one of the bowmen harassing the front lines. Your ice blast strikes the laguz right in the chest, and soon it is encased in a massive block of ice. Shortly after, the laguz falls into the wall of spires and shatters completely. Following that, you begin conjuring a gust of wind, and launch it at another one of the laguz. When the attack connects, the flier goes slamming into one of the trees below. Finally, you prepare a lightning spell, but unfortunately you can’t seem to get anything more than static. Considering you just fired a bunch of spells in a row, you might need to recuperate for a moment before attacking again.

During this, the other mages have set parts of the forest ablaze, but these were quickly put out. Additionally, the mages along with the crossbowmen seem to have taken down about four of the enemy. The cthuloid plants his staff on the ground, and you see a glowing circle filled with symbols expand from underneath. About ten or so raven/crows appear from within the circle and begin flying towards the laguz in the distance, though about three of them go downward instead. Following that, the cthuloid makes a swipe in the air with his staff, bringing forth an arc of flame which propels above the dragonborn soldiers and towards the trees. The attack slices many trees in its path, and also slices through two of the fliers hiding behind them. When the raven/crows get close, they begin harassing the laguz floating in the air.

As this is going on, you see one of the laguz hiding behind the trees launch forth some spell towards the formation on the left. It lands just under their feet, and sends all the nearby soldiers flying into the air while leaving a small crater. Shortly after, the laguz shred these dragonborn with arrows. Once the left formation slams against the ground, it seems that most of them cannot get up and remain immobile. During this attack, you feel two arrows puncture right into both of your knees, forcing you to the ground. A third one follows, penetrating your left shin. You have also lost grip of your staff, and it lays on the ground a few feet behind you.

The cthuloid says, "Dammit! You two, get over there and start firing those bows! Spearmen, double up! Everyone, begin falling back!" Two of the spearmen in the center formation run over to the remains of the left formation, and then they pick up the crossbows. One soldier from the right formation runs to the center formation. The spearmen in these formations then rearrange themselves to be two-men thick while still covering the crossbowmen. As you examine the situation, there seem to be about twenty or so Laguz flying amongst the trees, though there are probably more that you can’t see. Should you turn toward the beach, you’ll see about eight or so figures appear near the horizon.

Trip: (2) You begin walking over to the entryway while trying to open your book once more. For some reason, you can’t seem to open the book, as the pages feel like they have been stuck together. When you glance at the cover once more, the book’s title seems to have been replaced by, "Problem, Trip?" Cathy’s face still retains its sadistic demeanor.

Seeing as you’re not having success with that, you continue walking over to the door. However, the sheep seems to be in the way. You try moving around it, but it simply moves to block your way. You try saddling it, but the animal is too big for you to do so. Finally, you try pushing it, but the sheep won’t budge, as you’re not strong enough to push it.

Philosopher: (3) As a now disembodied soul, you wander around searching for a shaman willing to revive you. As you have lost your eyes and all sense of feeling, you cannot sense anything around you as you search. However, you eventually come across a white surge of energy and you feel yourself drawn to it. Shortly after, you feel yourself regain consciousness from your disembodied state.

Well, you find yourself right in the middle of the prison hallway, almost exactly where you were before. You don’t seem to have any injuries, and you seem to have taken the exact same form as before. The staff of the shaman in front of you is glowing. Said shaman seems to be smiling and giggling.

You hear the spearman speak from behind you, "What the hell just happened?"

When you turn to examine your surroundings, the unicorn speaks up, "Hi there!" Before you can react, the unicorn stretches its mouth open once more and devours you whole. You go through the exact same ordeal as before.    You Died.    Respawn?

Kayne: (5) You head on towards some the cloaked figures. This takes several minutes as you keep having to lift your feet above the sand to keep moving. You finally come across a pair of the figures. Now that you can see them up close, they seem to have some sort of black cloth covering their faces except for a single slit to see through, though you cannot find the gleam of their eyes. Additionally, instead of making arbitrary motions with their arms to whatever would feel comfortable, their arms, or at least the sleeves of their cloaks, always seem to be hanging down low. Still, you decide to ask these people for directions. They don’t respond in words, but instead they both lazily stretch their arms to point to the pyramid. Both of them then drop their arms as if they were releasing a pendulum. They then turn towards the pyramid and begin hobbling over to it. After taking several steps, one of them stops, turns its head towards you, and then points at the pyramid once again with its reaching gesture. Seeing as these people wish for you to follow them, you decide to do so.

About an hour or so passes as you step through the sands. As you get closer to the pyramid, the cloaked figures lead you onto a brickwork road blending into the sands. Off to the sides, you see more cloaked figures moving about with various tools. Many of them seem to be shoveling out sand while lining a ditch with bricks. A few others are hauling building supplies with wagons they pull themselves. Despite the scale of this construction project, whatever it may be, there doesn’t seem to be any supervising figures nor anybody shouting around orders. In fact, none of the cloaked figures seem to be communicating with each other at all, not even with gestures. As you pause to examine some of them, one of them stops in its path, turns to you, and makes the same lazy gesture toward the pyramid as the others. You continue following the original two figures, and after a few more minutes, you come across one of the streams, blocked off from the under-construction ditch by a wall a few feet thick. You see many plants growing along the border of the road. As you continue walking, you pass by a few buildings. Occasionally you hear some metal clanking coming from within, but the cloaked figures still move on pass them.

Eventually, the road leads to the outer wall of the pyramid, with a single pointed archway leading to the main structure. From here, you see someone moving toward you. Although this person is cloaked like the others, he seems to be running as opposed to hobbling like all the other cloaked figures. Unlike the brownish hue of all the others, this person’s cloak has a whitish-tan tint. He seems to be wearing a white mask along with cloth gloves. A large, yellowish sash goes across his body. Additionally, this person seems to be wearing a simple golden crown on top of its head. He has a belt holding a short-sword on his left side. He comes close to you and says, "Why… hello there! It’s been many years since I’ve last spoken to someone. There aren’t many people who go about wandering in the desert. Wait… have you been cursed with undeath as well? And you’re sentient as well! How have you come across such injuries? Hold on for a second." He steps closer to you and holds his hands near your arm stub. You see a blackish glow come from out of his hands, and a black stream connects from them to you. Slowly, your arm grows back to its full shape and form, and your regain your senses there. Additionally, any other wounds you may have experienced seem to have gone away. After he is done, the man continues, "I don’t know if there are any others who know that this kind of magic exists. As the holy arts have been designed for our oppression, we must use this for sustaining ourselves. So, for what reason have you come to my domain here in the great desert? Shall I show you around?"

Wordless Summons: (3) You walk up to the three guards. All of them seem to be wearing scale armor and have two swords in scabbards in front, one slightly larger than the other. Additionally, they have large, circular iron shields strapped to their backs along with a set of javelins. Their iron helmets have side plates covering their cheeks along with a brown ponytail extension on top. One soldier standing farther back says, "Bugger, thought the elves died off long time ago." Once you stand next to them, you greet them and ask them what the tower and wooden building are for.

The guard standing off to the left says, "Ain’t it obvious? We’re on the lookout for those spider-worshiping scum."

The third guard, standing in front of the first one, says, "We’ve been stationed ‘long the border in case the central army comes rolling in. That’s our living quarters, and our mate’s looking out from the top. We’re stuck here ‘till harvest season rolls around, then a couple tributes come and take our place. Wish the king could send a couple city folks to build some walls over here. Least it would keep the centrists from just walking in whenever they decide to invade."

"Why you telling the newcomer all this? For all we know, the elf could be a spy."

The first one says, "How do we know you’re not in league with the enemy government?"

Turn 50

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

Well, that was another quick post.

Jondanger 23: (5) As soon as you see the cougar step in front of you, you lift up your crossbow, load a bolt, and shoot. The bolt skewers right into the cougar’s eye and shortly after, it falls to the ground. You then turn around to face the one before the bridge. It just stands there motionless while growling at you.
BRaHiAn1: (6) You pull out the arrows and attempt to cure yourself of your wounds. You manage to do so while bearing through the pain, and you manage to heal yourself almost completely, though there’s still a small scratch on your left shin. After that, you begin crawling to the figures behind you. Neither the cthuloid nor the other mages seem to notice your disappearance. You then tiptoe your way around the wounded dragonborn, who are too incapacitated to complain or notice. Along the way, you see a few more dragonborn spearmen and crossbowmen watching for any laguz coming from the side. Additionally, you find another mage keeping watch, but she doesn’t seem to notice you. Once you’re past them, you make a run for the beach. You manage to reach the war galley, where there doesn’t seem to be anyone around. Yet the figures still seem to be far ahead of you. Therefore, strapping your staff behind you, you begin to swim into the sea to get closer to them. The waves push you back, but you go deep into the ocean after a few minutes of struggling. Far behind you, the fight continues to rage on. After many more minutes of swimming, you can finally see the figures clearly. All eight of them appear to be war galleys as well, with sails raised up. On the top of each, you see a flag with the same design as the one you saw before. Hundreds of oars are propelling the ships toward the beach you just came from. As you’re wading in the water, you suddenly feel something rip off your left leg up to your knee and you find yourself pulled slightly to your right. The water beneath you starts turning a blackish hue as you bleed out.
Rivux: (1) You try standing back up and begin to pull out your dagger. As soon as you pull it out in front of you, you feel another ice bolt smash against your right hand , causing you to drop the dagger a few feet in front. Shortly after, your hand is covered in ice. Meanwhile, the bandit mage blasts the ice rooting him in place with a fireball and turns to the wagon. Should you look there, the driver seems to be aiming the palm of his left hand toward you. You see bluish energy gathering towards it as the driver seems to be watching you and the bandit mage. A goblin and one of the humans try to rush in toward the driver, but the escort trips the human and kicks the goblin backwards.
Tabbune: (4) You don’t have any spells that can burst forth pure mana. Spellcasting doesn’t use mana in this universe, rather, one’s limitations to spellcasting are based on how exhausted one is, whether or not a mage has any debilitating injuries, and other stuff. Mana itself doesn’t exist as an energy source in this universe. Also, you aren’t powerful enough to cast stuff that can wipe out a whole group of enemies, even low level mooks. Still, you conjure forth an explosive burst of wind, which should have the closest to desired effect. A few autumn leaves fall from the sky and blow forth as well. The skeleton next to you immediately tumbles backward and drops its axe. The skeleton to your left also loses grip of its crossbow and turns around in an attempt to retrieve it. During your casting, the skeleton guarding the road tried to fire a bolt at you, but you see the bolt land on the ground far behind it. The two skeletons across the street don’t seem to have been affected too much by your attack, but the wind seems to have diverted their aim temporarily. The hammer-wielding skeleton tries to swing at your doge, but it leaps out of the way. It then barrels into the skeleton’s left leg, snatches it with its mouth, and causes the skeleton to tip over and fall.
Rhyme and Treason (1);    Idol of Cathari Sarad (3):    Before you have even a second to look around for more cords, the statue’s right hand propels toward you and grasps you right in the chest. You feel as though a thousand needles are piercing into that area as some bloody flesh rends through your clothing. There seems to be another cord stretching from the hand to the statue. You try raising your axes to slice it, but a series of claw-like tentacles extends from the cord and envelops most of your body, preventing you from moving. From these, more and more spines penetrate into your body from the visceral flesh. The hand then retracts back to the statue, bring you with it. The statue’s head turns to face you,    "Kihihihihi… You’re such a foolish little one. You had already lost the moment you thought you could take me on your own. Such a foolish little one. Do you remember the rift? You should have escaped while you had the chance. Now you shall become a part of me. But I shall savor the few moments we have together. Kihihihihi… KYAHAHAHAHA!!!"    At this moment, you feel many worm-like things burrow and squirm deep into your body from various parts of the visceral cocoon trapping you. Meanwhile, the hand draws you in closer and rubs your face against the statue’s stone face, as if it could somehow feel it. A tongue-like extension begins to stretch out of the statue’s mouth towards your face, but just before it touches, it retracts itself. The hand stretches you out away from the main statue, and then you feel all of your blood and moisture sucked out of your body at once.    You Died.    Respawn?

"Well, while you show me around, i will tell you my story. Please, lead the way."

- during tour -

"Everything started when dad decided to use the dead body of a treant to bring me back. With the help of his "Soul Binding Lantern", he fished me with his stupid magic out of the soulstream and put me inside the treeman. Because, well, my original body has been completely destroyed. Burned into ashes. Atomized. Torn into pieces so tiny it couldn't be glued back together."

"We had a little, shall we say, falling out, which caused me to leave him in the forest. Probably not a good idea, given what he did to me, but i guess this had no repercussions yet given that i never heard about him afterwards."

"I asked a wizard visiting a local batch of treants to warp me and my axe here to a place where i could find some treasures worthy of a dead man like me. He did, but the locals of Imamouse or whatever where i ended up decided it would be the best to try and kill me. I couldn't even explain myself, but at least the injuries i have sustained where not enough to keep me from reaching the next oasis. And i haven't run out of puns for them yet, which is surprising."

"And well, i at least regrew some parts of my body there, and i have been walking the desert for companionship and tresure since."

- after tour -

"Now, tell me a little about yourself. You have talked a lot already about the place, now please tell me your story too."

Turn 51

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

TheSpacePhantom: (2) You walk back over to the hole and look down, preparing to jump down. You’re probably going to fall 25 feet or so, so it’s probably going to be a bit painful. Nope. You’re not going to do that, so you just back away from the hole.
Rivux: (4) Seeing that you’ve had enough ice in your face, you run over to pick up your dagger and head in a northwesterly direction, while saying your schtick. The bandits don’t seem to respond to your statement, as they seem to be occupied with the mage driver and the escort. After a while, the ice begins to melt, but you start feeling a bit numb in your hand and face. After traveling for about fifteen minutes, you come across a small town surrounded by stone walls. At various sections along the walls, you see an orange banner depicting a clenched white fist in the center. Three roadways connect into the town, one towards the northeast, one to the northwest, and one to the southwest. There seem to be a few wagons going in and out of the gates.
Philosopher: (6) You do not lose memories or anything like that when you respawn. That being said, you are now a human lich, but your frame is more like a zombie instead of a swarm of spiders. You have a necklace phylactery which prevents you from fully dying until it is destroyed, though your regeneration is fairly slow. As you are undead, ordinary healing spells and other holy magic are harmful to you. You are also a gunslinger/summoner hybrid, even though guns aren’t prevalent in this world. Specifically, you wield a white/gold decorated RPG launcher, which you can also use as a magical implement. It does loads of damage and is capable of hitting multiple targets in one blast. These grenades deal both fire and holy based damage. Also, you start with only five rounds for this thing. Good luck finding someone who can make you more ammo. Additionally, you can summon mooks to aid you in battle via portals. As you’re just a beginning summoner, you can only summon basic mooks/soldiers/animals at the moment, and currently you can only have two basic mooks out at a time. There may or may not be ways to get around this. You have a mental link with your mooks and can relay complex commands to them, though you don’t necessarily see what they can. However, because of your summoning specialty, you don’t know most basic spells. You come with a cloak and basic provisions. Additionally, you come with a partially filled spellbook on summoning. As a price for your powers, you have lost truesight.

You find yourself in a heavily forested area with a small stream running through. Many of the larger trees have spikes made of bone arranged with equal spacing among bones. In a few places, you find a few piles of rubble. One of them seems to have a remnant of a sculpted wing along with half of a face. Ahead of you, you see smoke rising into the sky. Somewhat to your right, there seems to be some sort of iron structure, but you can’t quite make it out.

Tabbune: (4) You cast a spell to boost your companion’s offensive capabilities. As a stream of greenish mist flows from your hands to your animal, it begins to grow in size. For the moment, your doge has become a dire doge; it is like a doge, but dire.

Shortly after, the two crossbow skeletons turn to aim at the dire doge. The one to the right misses due to firing prematurely while the other one hits right in your companion’s side, but your dire doge doesn’t seem affected because it doesn’t afraid of anything. The dire doge simply rends the hammer skeleton on the ground. The skeleton guarding the road turns to fire at the doge, but it simply jumps out of the way. Meanwhile, the skeleton to your left just picks up its crossbow while the one near you struggles to get up.

Trip: (3) You launch a fireball at the sheep.    You… you monster! Why… why did you have to do that? You just harmed a poor innocent sheep! What did it ever do to you? Sheepie just wanted to be your friend. He didn’t mean any harm. Just look at him! Look at the poor, sad look on his face! Look at his cute little eyes and tell me why did you have to go out of your way to maim an innocent animal! Is this what you want to do with your life? What kind of sick demented soul would do such at thing? Does it amuse you to set sheep on fire? Are you entertained by this? I… I don’t know what to say. Just… Trip, you disappoint me.

The sheep just stands where it is as it gazes at you with its puppy-dog eyes, asking you why you had to do such a thing. Although parts of its body and legs seem to be on fire, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to die for a few minutes or so. Additionally, Cathy’s face on the book looks somewhat horrified, but after a second it reverts back to normal, along with the title.

Kayne: (3) The cloaked man begins leading you into the gates and starts showing you around. By the time he leads you to the entrance of the pyramid, you have managed to finish explaining your “backstory.” He begins speaking, "I don’t see why someone would go through the trouble of fixing your soul into a tree. And what exactly were you doing that your body would have been destroyed in such a manner? It would have been much easier for him to perform a resurrection spell with whatever could be gathered of your skeleton. The rest of the flesh and bone would have assembled itself. Just where exactly are you from? In all my years, I have never heard of any such soulstream except in stories. When one dies, their soul may linger on as a ghost if they have suffered some dire fate, but otherwise they would pass on and perish. One wouldn’t even need magic to see ghosts, though being attuned would certainly help. And how had your father come across such an artifact? It would be best that you kept track of him. If such a thing exists, I would imagine some of the more ambitious individuals of this realm would want to get their hands on it. Now I can’t say I’ve heard of any place called Imamouse.

"Right, my story. In my homeland, I had been a young scribe looking to become a government mage. I had been a servant for the king. Or was it the high priest? I can’t even remember the name of the god we worshiped. I had been cleaning the room storing the inscription for summoning familiars, but while washing the thing I saw something written in some bizarre hue. Next thing I know, I’d become some sort of thing made of billions of spiders.” At this moment, he removes the glove on his right hand, and underneath, you see millions of spiders crawling about to form a hand-like shape. He puts it back on and then continues, “It didn’t take long before everyone started accusing me of being some sort of monster. So I went Southwest, into the desert. Many people tried to hunt me down, but thanks to this curse, they couldn’t kill me permanently. I’ve remained here in the desert for seven-hundred years. At first I wandered aimlessly, traveling to the western lands, but then I had made my home here in the heart of the desert. Here, I have studied the finer workings of magic for years and years. Over the years, I had come to master the art of necromancy, and with this I could hope to gather the materials for writing out spells and performing the necessary calculations. You’d be surprised how many poor souls have tried to cross the Gajj only to die of thirst and starvation. What purpose would they have while dead, with no need to preserve their bodies when their souls have already perished? I gave their deaths a purpose. Look at what you see around you. As we speak, my soldiers are hard at work so that we may at last create life here in the great desert. They may not be able to think or speak as you or I can, yet their owners do not wish to reclaim the lost vessels. I did not choose this life of undeath, but I have tried to make the best of it. My work is slow, but it is yielding results.

"Still, even though I’ve exiled myself from the world, there are still others who seek my end. Many years ago, a great and powerful witch had tried to assault this sanctuary and seize it for herself. I had lost many soldiers in that fight, and I was nearly defeated as well, but I had managed to protect this shrine by completing the first seal and sending the witch away. You shouldn’t worry yourself too much, for inside these walls, I have since expanded that protection and planted a great network of warding spells to ensure this place may remain safe. You should be able to pass through just fine though.

"My apologies, it seems I have rambled on for quite some time and yet I still haven’t properly introduced myself. When I was still a young man, I had been called Enri, but no others remain to call me that. I have heard others call me the Desert King, or the Necromancer, or other things of the sort. We’ve been standing by this entrance for far too long. You must come with me up the stairway. We shall get a better view up there, as I have planted glass into some of the walls." Before you, you see a great, wide stairway going up for quite some time.

Jondanger 23: (4) You reload the crossbow, aim it right at the cougar and fire. The cougar tries to jump out of the way, but you still manage to strike it into its front left leg. It tries to stand back up to attack but it trips over its injured leg.
Rhyme and Treason: (Free) You are a vampire bard. You use music and stuff to harm your enemies and boost the capabilities of your allies. As a vampire, you are much stronger than most humans and you are naturally capable of flight. At the same time, you are reliant on blood for sustenance and you will get fried if you stay out in the sun for too long, though you’ll be able to survive in twilight. You come with a musical instrument of your choice, a dagger, along with basic provisions and a skin canteen of blood. You also come equipped with tatami scale/chainmail armor, despite your bard status.

You find yourself on a gray, grass-less mesa overlooking a great gorge. Inside, there seems to be a vast city with a variety of strange creatures lurking about, though you can’t see them quite clearly. You see many figures flying above. While some of the structures seem to be made of stone, others seem to be more organic-looking. At the edge of the gorge, you see many glowing circles on the ground. One of them is about fifty or so feet to your left, and there seems to be a large assortment of arcane symbols contained within. At five points around the edge, you see octarine portals lodged onto stone slabs supported by a single brace. Right in the center, you see a large black tower rising above the rest of the land. There seems to be about three rings of reddish liquid flowing around the city and into two round, organic structures. At various points, you see glowing orbs along with black flags. Said flags depict two white dragons holding up a bronze scepter with lettering underneath. Further out in the distance, you see about three more black towers, spread out, supported by about eight diagonal braces. The sky above seems to be covered in some sort of purplish twilight with streaks of light shining through in various places.

Ensure my oversized cello is properly affixed to my back, then make my way down to the city.

Clearly the best choice of instrument.
