Turn 39

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

This is just a side thought/Cathari ranting. I recently finished reading this thread up to the part where I begin my session. I’ve also looked at the trope page for this thread and it doesn’t seem to be a very accurate depiction of the events (In case you didn’t know, yes, this thread has its own trope page). Even though the earlier events of this thread “don’t have a plot,” I could potentially argue there is some continuity that could be written as a summary, though I’d have to reread it to ensure it’s accurate. I don’t know if I’ll actually follow through, but I’m considering doing an overhaul of the page for the TV Tropes RTD thread. I’d start with minor things and add in things as I’d see them. I’d eventually like for it to get to the point where someone who happens upon the page will have some understanding of the events in this thread without having to read through 300 something pages. However, I don’t have any experience working on works pages other than my own. If anyone who has had experience with some of the previous G Ms remembers any specific tropes, I would appreciate it.

A few other thoughts. I’d argue there are several arcs within this thread different enough that making no distinction between them and lumping all their tropes together might not do them justice. I consider this especially true for arcs that are separate from the main continuity, specifically when Fulcanelli started, even though the dark jetbus is still present in that continuity, and my current session (I’ll admit, trying to get some of the stuff in my session on a trope page is the main reason I started this endeavor). For the main arc, I’d separate it into the time Flanker 66 ran (even though there are a few “resets”), the “Zero” arc, and the post-Zero arc. I’m mostly going to try doing this a solo effort while I still have free time, but if anyone is interested, I’d appreciate any contributions. If anyone would like to list any tropes with examples for this session or anything before, either on the thread or though PM, I’d appreciate it, though I don’t intend on including anything from this arc until I feel the earlier stuff is sufficiently covered. Considering this is a game, you don’t need to do any of this, but I just figured I’d mention this stuff in case anyone was interested.

Rivux: (2) You pull out your dagger but you accidentally send it flying somewhere onto the shoreline. You jump out of the boat, crashing into the sands. You can see the dagger, but it’s going to take a bit of effort to get over there. Instead, you decide to contact the kobolds via the ring and report them on the situation. You mention your current circumstances and the delay. You don’t hear anything in response, and you aren’t sure whether or not the people on the other side heard you.
NE Sgamer 190: (3) Seeing as this place gives you bad vibes, you climb back up the steps into the building above. Shortly after, you step outside the building and head back to the main group. You hear the captain say, "Soldiers, gather everyone here. We’re heading out." He turns to the mage, "Mage, while you seem to be stressing some importance on the mine entrance, we don’t know if it will lead to the other side of this mountain. If you think you will find something of value inside, you may go on your own volition. However, I shall not accompany you, as that would place my men at too great a risk."
Lord Herobrine: (1) You pull out an arrow, hold out your bow, and try preparing a knockback spell. Instead, some sort of white mist channels from the hand with your arrow towards the wolf with an arrow in its back. After a few seconds, the arrow simply falls out of the wolf and it doesn’t show any signs of injuries. As you watch this, you realize a few things. You don’t have any sort of magical capabilities aside from your healing magic. As you prepare the bow to strike at the wolf in front of you, the other wolf leaps in from the side and knocks you to the ground. Your glow seems to have become somewhat dimmer.
Rhyme and Treason: (6) You accept the task set forth by the mayor. Before you go, you ask for the location of the bandit sightings. He tells you to head off in a westerly direction. You thank the mayor for his offer and begin setting off in that direction, going along the main road. About an hour or so passes and the day gives way to night. As you won’t be able to see much from high up aside from what’s lit, you keep yourself a few feet above the ground. The terrain for the most part is relatively flat, though there are a few hills here and there. As you’re flying, you feel about two arrows shoot through your body. About four more arrows hit the ground near you. When you look around, you see five archers clad in chainmail appear behind you. Slightly ahead, behind one of the hills, you see another archer riding a unicorn. All of them seem to be wearing some sort of dark blue garments over their mail and their outfits cover their mouths. From what you can tell, all of them are human. Several of them have daggers attached via a belt. Considering you have been consciously looking for bandits and have been scanning your surroundings, these people shouldn’t have appeared in their current locations without you noticing. The one riding the unicorn says, "That’s a very nice set of axes you’ve got there. It would be a shame if something were to happen to it."
Philosopher: (6) You offer to switch places with Marisa. She simply nods and suddenly you find yourself on the ground facing the witch, who is now sitting on your tiger. She says, "Kitty!" You also suggest that the three of you begin scouting the area. "Okay." Shortly after, you find yourself high above the ground along with Marisa and the tiger. Far towards your right, you can see numerous faint lights some untold distance. Towards your left, you see some more lights, but they seem closer. Across the river, you see the forest go on endlessly aside from a circular clearing. You begin falling to the ground along with the tiger. Several feet before you land on the ground, you feel a quick jolt stop you midair. Although you didn’t collide with anything, you feel pain all over and you probably broke a rib or two. You also feel like you’re about to hurl due to the sudden pressure on stomach/solar plexus. Your tiger, who seems to be in the same condition, spurts out blood for a moment. You hear Marisa from above, "Ah! Sorry! I forgot you couldn’t fly. Good thing I caught you before you hit the ground."
BRaHiAn1: (2) You decide to obey Sturm this time instead of running in blindly. After nodding to him, he charges off towards the archers. You begin running back towards the direction you think the camp is in. However, after a few seconds of running, you feel an arrow pierce through your left leg, causing you to tumble over. Aside from that, you hear the shades battling against Sturm behind you, but you can’t see anything aside from Sturm’s massive sword swinging about.
Kayne: (5) Despite the fact you’re burning, you get up and charge towards the shades. The nearest pickaxe user and the right soldier jump out of the way, but you knock down the other one while charging towards the two injured shades. Sometime during this, you feel as though your left foot came off, but you continue on nevertheless. Once near the two shades deeper into the cave, you raise your axe and cleave through them both with one clean shot. Should you turn around, you’ll notice that the two guards left standing begin running out of the cave, making their way around the fire. The other one struggles to stand up. Despite your success, you feel as though your left arm is starting to become loose due to the fire.
Trip: (5) After recalling your floating eye, you walk over to the captain and report on what you saw. He responds, "Good, it seems like we’re near the northern wall. We should head over there and see if the guards there will let us in. Soldiers, gather everyone here. We’re heading out. Mage, while you seem to be stressing some importance on the mine entrance, we don’t know if it will lead to the other side of this mountain. If you think you will find something of value inside, you may go on your own volition. However, I shall not accompany you, as that would place my men at too great a risk."
TheSpacePhantom: (5) As you descend towards the ground, you see the priestess perform a spell to seal off the hole left by the hand. Your lance also loses its glow. The priestess whistles to gather everyone nearby. She says, “Everyone get moving! We don’t have any time to waste!” You continue along with the large evacuation force, and after about an hour or so, you eventually reach the village from before. Most of the people who went on ahead seem to have gathered alongside the beach and seem to be setting up camp. Towards the left of the village, you see another large group of people. Beyond the village, there seem to be far more boats than before. The priestess addresses you, "Seems like we’ve reached Tgan. I shall meet with the high priestess here so we may seek a way to defeat this great evil. You may not have acquainted yourself with my people, but you may help them as you please. However, if your eastern ways have something that will aid us, you may come to the council as you wish."

Turn 40

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

BRaHiAn1: (6) You pull out the arrows lodged into you, and manage to heal yourself completely. After that, you get up and run back towards the forest. After a few minutes, you find yourself near the rest of the traveling party. It’s been a long day, so you lie down on the ground and try resting yourself, given that you don’t see anything particularly comfortable. If something happens, or when Sturm retrieves the supplies, you’ll probably be able to hear it. Despite initial discomfort, you begin falling asleep.

When you wake up to daylight, you hear Sturm’s voice coming from behind, "Guys! Anyone? Can somebody answer me? Guys!" You see one of the villagers with a deep slit into his throat laying right in front of you. His pupils have gone completely wide and his tongue is sticking out limp. His tunic seems to have been forcibly ripped off. You see a blood painting of a smiling unicorn along with "Problem?" written in English underneath. Once you get up to look around the area, you find all of the villagers scattered on the ground. Almost all of them have been decapitated, and several of them have been stripped down to the nude. Six of them have had their stomachs ripped open with their internal organs strewn out on the ground.

Rivux: (3) You drag yourself over to your dagger nearby. You obtain it and then cut the rope bound to your legs. Now that you’re able to, you stand up. Now that the sun is higher up, you can see something far along the shore towards your left, but you can’t quite make it out.
Rhyme and Treason: (6) Although you could possibly escape by trying to look for a hiding spot or getting behind cover, the archers will eventually find you that way. As you have the advantage of flight, you begin ascending upward, as eventually you’ll be both difficult to see and out of the arrows’ reach. The archers keep firing at you, but you manage to dodge their attacks. After a few minutes, you reach the point where you can barely see them. At this point, you see several light clusters in multiple directions. One of these seems to be located in the middle of a forest while another stands just beyond that. There are also a few behind you and one far along the path you had taken. You seem to be safe at this distance, as the enemies no longer seem to be firing at you. You hear a voice speak from behind you, "You think you can get away from us that easily?"

You then find yourself buried somewhere. You have no idea how deep you are into the ground, but the ground seems just loose enough for you to struggle around. You’re beginning to lose your breath, as there isn’t much room for air. Ahead of you, the voice speaks once more, "Oh no! Where did he go? The bird-man has escaped from our sights! Whatever shall we do? Why does he attempt to flee from us when we only wish to be friends. Alas, let us commemorate our fair meeting by placing a stake in these grounds. It’s not like anyone would be buried alive there or something.    KYAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Trip: (4) After speaking with the dwarf, you head off towards the direction of the mine. As you pass, you notice a few collapsed houses on the way, along with more goblin skeletons. Many of them still have bronze armor, but most seem corroded beyond repair. From behind, you hear the captain shout, "Alright everyone, let’s move!" Once at the edge of the village, you see the opening to the mine shaft. As you enter, you briefly conjure up some candlelight to see. The tunnel is roughly rectangular in shape and swerves a little bit to the right. You pass by a singular stone wheel next to a pile of ash and some ore. After several minutes of walking, you find that the path seems to split into three. Unfortunately, the middle path has collapsed under rubble.
NE Sgamer 190: (4) You ask the kobold captain if he has any need of you. He says, "I’d prefer you remain with us until we reach the border. If we stay in these lands too long we’re going to run into another demon or something. Plus, we could always use more men, especially since that thing took so many of our own. Alright everyone, let’s move!" You begin walking with the large number of shrumen and the two kobolds. As you head towards the mountain, you see a path leading upwards. It takes about half an hour to climb up the path, but you manage to reach the leveled-out portion where the fortress resides. The fortress is roughly rectangular, with some portions flush with the cliff face, and comprised of stone. Although there is an arched entryway, one of the sides looks like it was blasted open. The walls are covered with arrow slits, though most of them seem to be concentrated on the front and the side facing the slope towards the flat ground. Additionally, there seems to be a small wall lining the edge of the cliff along with several more goblin skeletons. Should you wander over to the side of the mountain, you will see that the twilight starts to give way to regular night. You see the chain continuing to your left and right, and there are many more mountains ahead of you. Far ahead in that direction, you can also see a massive stone wall connecting between some of the most distant mountains. For some reason, the sky seems to have a tinge of reddish-pink just above the wall. There also seem to be lights along said wall. The captain remarks, "Looks like we’ve got a long way to go. Let’s hope the mage knows what he’s doing."
Kayne: (1) You turn around to face the sole remaining shade. He says, “The moon be my guide.” He then charges forward. You try leaping onto him, but due to a misstep, you simply tumble face-flat onto the ground. The shade simply barrels past you, retrieves the firepots nearby and raises them high. "I shall vanquish you, infidel!" He then slams the whole belt right onto you, resulting in a great explosion. The fire extends several feet around you. Your left arm falls off and begins disintegrating into ash. Although the shade has shot back during his attack, he quickly gets up and stands just outside the flames.
Philosopher: (4) After speaking, Marisa slowly sets you and the tiger onto the ground. Although you feel like you’re about to hurl, you move on towards the left. In the meantime, Marisa continues teleporting the three of you until you find yourself before a village overlooking a cliff near the river. Although you see a few small houses with gardens as you move toward the village, the main center sits atop an elevated mound and is surrounded by a stone wall. The bottom of this mound contains several wooden spikes. There also seem to be several small openings within the wall itself. A single wooden bridge connects the outside to the main entrance, only wide enough for a few people to cross. As you get close to the bridge, you hear a voice from the top of the wall, "Who goes there? What is your business in Akkakis?"
Lord Herobrine: (4) Despite the wolves’ proximity, you get up and begin climbing the tree. Although they try jumping up and biting you, you move quickly enough and station yourself on one of the middle branches. It isn’t particularly thick, but it should be able to support you. You can shoot the wolves from here, though the branch you’re on and some of the ones nearby might be a hindrance to your shots.

Turn 41

First time posts for this session require you to state a race and class of a Dnd/Fantasy RPG variety. This is an RTD with some continuity and I want to make sure you don't show up with space-themed stuff when that doesn't fit with the general theme. I also recommend reading through my previous posts to get a sense of how I run things and some of the things you don't want to do. You'll also get a sense of the stuff that's going on by doing so.

Rivux: (5) At your current position, you can’t tell if what you see is a cave or not. Still, you go over to the boat and drag in farther into the shore. Afterward, you walk over in that general direction. Upon a closer inspection, the figure does seem to be a cliff face with a cave connecting into the sea. There seem to be several shattered war galleys washed up on the shore nearby. But as you begin to make your way close to it, you see a human woman with long orange hair step out along a rocky path leading into the cave. She is clad in heavy plate armor interlaced with gold and carries a heavy knight’s shield and sword on her back. A large red emblem of a lion seems to cover most of the shield. She walks towards you and speaks, "Well, ya don’t see horse-men strollin’ around at the break a dawn everyday. You must be one of them thief types right? Have any run-ins with the law lately? I could use move hands around the place. Name’s Yukari by the way." She briefly looks at your left hand and then says, "So, you run into any flyin' sword schmucks recently?"
TheSpacePhantom: (6) You walk over to the large group of people from Sfan. You ask around if anyone needs a hand with anything. For some reason, no one seems to have noticed you, as most of the people seem to be talking among themselves. You try wading yourself into the crowd, but no one seems to respond. Then, you hear a woman’s voice speak from behind you, "Why don’t you use yourself as bait for the monster? After all, it’s your fault for unleashing it in the first place…" As you hear this, many of the people around you begin to look in your direction, though their gaze seems to be directed behind you. Should you try looking around to see the woman speaking, you don’t see anything except the hundreds of stares of the civilians. "You know what, why don’t you just kill yourself? Why don’t you just end everything right here and right now by sacrificing yourself? Oh? Too much of a wuss to do something like that? That’s right, Spacey, you’re the hero here! Why don’t I help you out then!"

Right in front of you, you see a woman begin coughing. As she covers her mouth, you see her teeth begin to fall out and blood drips all over her hands. Soon after, she bends to the ground and hurls out bloody vomit. After about a minute or so of this, the woman passes out on the ground. After this, the person to her left explodes in a bloody instant. You hear the one woman cackling from behind you. Two more people begin melting into a pile of guts while you see maggots consume another. Another person starts laughing uncontrollably but then begins choking. A massive swarm of flies comes spewing out of one person’s mouth and nose and begin tormenting everyone else as they start to run away from you.

"Well, what are you standing around for? This is the perfect chance to go out and save them! You wanted to help these people, right?    KYAHAHAHAHA!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

BRaHiAn1: (3) You begin swearing in every language you know. After a few minutes, you see Sturm come from behind one of the trees. As he walks, he seems to be dragging his feet on the ground and his arms seem to be feeling anything for anything around him. His head seems to scan the area as he walks. Although he seems to glance over the corpses a few times, he doesn’t seem to show much reaction towards them. Eventually, he turns to face your general direction, yet for some reason, he seems to be looking towards your left. He says, "Strange you’d be the one I’d find here. The bastards had a sorceress on their side. I got gimped by some sort of light display and the next thing I know I’m fighting their entire army. Could’ve sworn I killed over a thousand of them. I don’t know how long I’ve been passed out for, but I think they’re all gone now. The cargo should be safe, but everything has turned black for me so I won’t be able to carry it back without help. By the way, where is everyone? Did they already leave?"
Lord Herobrine: (4) From previous experience, using a healing spell on yourself will do nothing but incinerate you, so you refrain yourself from doing that. Instead, you stay in your position and ready your bow in case one of the wolves tries coming up to attack. After about an hour or so, the wolves get tired of waiting for you to come down and begin wandering off on their own. Although you still feel the injuries from before, the wolves no longer seem to be a nuisance.
Rhyme and Treason: (3) You transform into a raven and try to get yourself out of the ground. By struggling with your wings, you eventually manage to see the night sky, and the rest of the dirt begins collapsing around you. However, The unicorn and its rider are standing just before you, along with two of the archers. You feel two arrows spear right into your torso, and just as you’re about to take flight, the unicorn leaps up and presses you into the ground with one of its hooves. "Having trouble there little birdie? Maybe if you ask nicely I’ll let you go free.    KYAHAHAHA!!!"
Trip: (4) You head down the left path. The tunnel begins to slope downward. After a few minutes of walking, the tunnel then swerves around and continues descending downward. The ground eventually becomes horizontal but you begin to see numerous offshoot tunnels running perpendicular on each side, with little difference amongst them. You see a few corroded shovels and pickaxes here and there along with some ore chunks lying about. Towards the end of the tunnel, you see yet another goblin skeleton. Should you walk out of the main tunnel’s end, you’ll find yourself before a massive stairway descending downward without an end in sight. The path is covered with dust and the stonework seems ancient.
Kayne: (5) You still have your right arm attached to you, but like the rest of your body, it is on fire. Despite your injuries, you charge forth out of the flames and toward the last shade. Although he readies his saber and shield in preparation for you attack, you swing your weapon just out of his arm’s reach and slice his head right off. The rest of the body tumbles to the ground. The combination of your weight and the flames cause your remaining foot to collapse into ashes. You can still walk around, albeit awkwardly. The flames on you are less severe from your dash, but they’re still significant.
NE Sgamer 190: (4) Before wandering ahead, you mention to the captain that you wish to scout. He responds, "Alright, go on ahead. We’ll try keeping up with you but if you see anything, report back. As much as this place could serve as a defensive position, we don’t have any supplies, so we can’t afford to sit around." After this, you go around past the mountain’s peak and begin descending. The slope is much steeper in these parts, as there’s no carved pathway. However, you manage to keep your footing and wander on down to the bottom. Along the way, you see a hole leading back into the mountain. After about an hour of walking, with the kobolds and shrumen following far behind, you get over to the next mountain over. You pass by a few leafless trees along the way. From this position, you only need to pass about two more to reach the far wall. There also seems to be a large tunnel digging down into the base of this mountain. You begin climbing up, though there are no slopes to help you on your path. Once you come near the top, you see the wall once more. A mountain stands on each side of your view to the great wall ahead. On the peak of the one to your left, you see what appears to be a stone fortress with some figures moving about it. You also see an octarine portal lodged into the mountain face. You don’t find anything particularly significant towards the other mountain, but there seems to be a small ravine cutting alongside it.
No1mustevarno: (5) You crawl over to the shovel, pick it up, and begin crawling towards the indicated tunnel. The slinger says, “Damned horsefiends! Someone gets him to the tunnels!” The axe troll and the other slinger walk over to you, pick you up, and carry you deep into the tunnel. Although the initial hallway has some illumination, the tunnel eventually becomes pitch black, but the trolls have no trouble navigating them. At some point, you feel them toss you to the ground and grumble as they leave. Once alone, you begin digging in a slightly upward direction. Despite the fact you can’t really move your legs, you manage to dig fairly efficiently. After a few hours of work, the soil eventually caves in and up above you find yourself in the middle of the forest with the moon high in the sky. The mountain from before is now towards your right, but you can see some form of lights up ahead. As far as you can tell, the trolls seem to be nowhere near you.
Philosopher: (3) After speaking, the voice says, "Ixal? You wander in from somewhere off the main road? What in the world are you two doing without a guide? Right, you know that road you just came from? Just go the other way and you’ll eventually reach the capital."

"heavy plate armor"

WHOA SHIT

I reflexively start turning tail, but stop when I see she's not the same. When she's done talking I slyly ignore the first part about thieving and law run-ins and ask what she means by flying sword schmucks and what the hell it has to do with my hand.

I decide to wait it out until it becomes day again.

EDIT: I decide to hike it through the range before it becomes too dark out.
