So you're saying we can have a Naked Fencer strategy? That sounds like a good challenge, to do the whole game as 1 fencer with only a sword.
"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"Wouldn't be all that bad really, since they passively counterattack whenever they dodge.
Oh boy, I can already see the jokes, and the jokes about the jokes. Most of them related to a character in another RPG who dodge tanked like crazy when unarmored after a certain point.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — Unknownany clue on an English release?
I'm sure that character is a certain someone from Xenoblade Chronicles.
"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"Yep, good old Naked Dunban.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownHere are all the numbers for the Fencer skills, if anyone's curious. The first 10 are basic skills, the 2nd 10 are dodge-tank prestige class skills, and the 3rd 10 are chain-master prestige class skills (can't remember what those classes are actually called).
And here's a google document spreadsheet with names and descriptions for all class skills.

So, if I understand things correctly, all Fencers get the first 10 skills no matter what, but the second and third sets depend on what you promote to, right?
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownJust downloaded the 4 demo and I'm really liking it so far! I'll probably buy the full game once I finish up with it.
Though I still have barely any idea what I'm doing beyond what I learned from beating Persona Q.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeLandsknecht typically wants to build towards multi-hit links and benefits from party members that can trigger multiple hits of them.
Fortress is a tank that can eventually become a dodge tank.
Nightseeker throws statuses at the enemies to deal extra damage when they're afflicted, which works well with its multi-hit attacks.
Medic just heals.
Sniper is for guaranteed hits and afflicting binds so that your attacks are likelier to hit and the opponent can't use theirs.
Dancer is for support abilities and can also do some damage.
EO is mainly about experimenting, so feel free to just try things out.
Right now I have a team of Landsknecht, Fortress, Medic, Runemaster, Sniper
I've been doing pretty well so far, I only wiped out once when I got caught between two of the kangaroos in overworld.
It looks like there are three classes not available to me, though. What are they?
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeYou unlock them later in the plot by meeting new cultures.
Huh, okay.
Well, I've completed the demo and killed the Nomad Baboon. I'll download the full game some time soon!
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeDouble Posting, sorry~
Got the full game and I've been having a blast! I've stuck with my team of Landsknecht, Fortress, Medic, Runemaster, and Sniper and I've been doing fairly well. I haven't struggled against any bosses thus far, but it's certainly been an uphill battle.
Though I do think I'm underlevelled- Wufan just joined me in Misty Ravine's B3rd floor at level 28, and my whole party is just barely breaching level 23! I might have to dedicate some time to grinding.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeShe's at the level you're supposed to be around when you actually get to the boss (well, she's slightly higher than that). You'll be leveling while she isn't, and you'll catch up a bit.

That's good to hear. I really like the Arcanist class, and I'd love to get a permanent one on my party sometime soon.
Though, starting from level 1 is going to be quite the pain...
Regardless, I've decided to tackle the sidequest about the missing soliders. The bit about the crayfish was amazing. Hopefully my guys will level up a couple times before I head back down B3 again, though I haven't run into enough trouble to make my level all that worrisome.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeWhenever they introduce a new class, they give you some tokens that you can use to instantly get them up the right level.
Good to hear!
Though there's also the issue on which one of my party members is going to get dropped I feel like I have a pretty good set-up right now- dropping my medic would be suicide, my sniper has been good at dishing out damage and binds, and my runemaster is finally dealing consistent amounts of damage across the whole of the enemy.
I could drop my Landsknecht, but the chains have been very useful and he's a very strong unit. I could also drop my Fortress, but soaking up damage is incredibly useful (plus I've heard things about Fortresses being really really good units).
Decisions, decisions...

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThis is just my personal opinion, but I think having both a dedicated healer and a dedicated tank is overkill. One or the other should suffice, and Arcanists can provide a bit of healing of their own.
But then again, in games like Etrian Odyssey, when is overkill never enough? Or at the very least, when is overkill not cathartic?
Welp, horrendously died to the final boss. I was woefully unprepared. And underlevelled. And lost any levels I gained along the way.
Time for grinding! (after regetting the shortcuts!)
Edit: beat the boss.. i think i might have levelled up too much (I grinded my team to 30). Still, what's done is done.
Now I have to decide whether or not to add Wufan (or another Arcanist) to my party. My team is very backrow heavy, and dropping my Fortress seems like a bad idea, but my Medic allows me to stay in mazes for much longer- and placing her in the front row seems rather risky.
...I think I'm going to do just that. Now to decide if I want to add Wufan to my party, or a new Arcanist.
Edit 2: Decided to go with a new Arcanist, since I read about this retiring thing which seems pretty important.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-Mae~Double Post~
Just met the Sentinels, covering for the furries. I'm now really intrigued by this Titan and Yggdrasil. I'm also starting to think Whirlwind is a bad guy, or at the very least becoming one. He's been acting kinda funny since Scarlet Pillars. Then again, he is really chill and cool so I hope he isn't trying to revive the Titan.
Anyway, I'm assuming that I'll be getting the second unlockable class by the end of this dungeon, though it sure sucks that if I want to use it I'll have to dedicate some serious time into grinding (again, since I just retired my whole party).
As for my party, I now have a set up of
Landsknecht/Medic
Runemaster/Arcanist/Sniper
it's been covering my health really well, and I absolutely love the Arcanist's circles. I have stat points set up for when they hit level 40, and then my team is going to get really buff.
...and now to figure out my subclasses.
Edit: Decided to hold off on subclasses for my Landsknecht and my Runemaster. As for the rest, I subclassed my Medic with Dancer, my Arcanist with Runemaster, and my Sniper with Nightseeker.

The EO 5 demo is out in Japan now, with two weeks from the release. Naturally, we have taken this opportunity to datamine the tables and now we know all the skills and whatnot, and soon we'll know all their numbers too. Bwa ha ha? Nothing hugely surprising so far, although it's sort of interesting that Fencers have passive that increases their evasion for every equipment slot they leave open.
Also, apparently stat growths are based entirely on race, with class having no effect at all. So all Therians will be both strong and agile, etc.
